    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello, I am new to the forums!

I own a 1977 gs550 and I was wondering what parts could be reasonably salvaged off a 1994 cbr600 donor bike?

I see a lot of talk of swapping front ends and rotors etc etc but I don't have enough experience to know how to spot the assorted problems and pitfalls before hand.

I was just wondering if there was anything reasonably fun that can be done with these parts.

Thrown rod. Engine is probably completely done for. Wasn't crashed, tires rims suspension stock, electrical stock and working though battery is dead.

Price is $350 plus the PITA of picking it up. I figure could probably cover costs parting but I won't do it unless I can get something fun for my little GS.
 
Well I found that the CBR600f2 has a inner bearing diameter of 26mm. I can't find what the gs550 stem is.

goallballs says parts 22-1005 and 22-1020 fit each bike seperately but unless there is some code I can't decipher what that means.

Additonally they have this memo regarding fitting a replacement tapered bearing in the gs550. http://www.goallballs.com/pdf/Suzuki...g_Stem_Mod.pdf

I don't think that helps me determine this but I am getting the feeling that if you have to machine the stock stem from 25mm to 24.5mm to fit these bearings that fitting a 26mm in the same stem might be a problem?

Found this little bit online searching regarding a yamaha and cbr match. Not a match for what i want but some information regardless.
I decided to use the swing arm from a 1988 Yamaha FZ600 and
the wheels and fork assembly from a 1993 Honda CBR600F2.
For the front end of the bike I want it to be known that I am
using taperd roller bearing from my RS350. I believe these bearing can be ordered from any of the company that cater to the RZ350 or any good motorcycle dealer parts department.

The bearings that the stock RZ350 fork uses are 25x48x13 for the
upper and 30x48x13 for the lower. The first number refers to the
inner diameter of the bearing; the second to the outer diameter
and finally the third is the height of the bearing. ....

The second issue was over come by machining the inner
diameter of the bearing out to the 26mm needed to fit the Honda
fork. If you wanted to check your local bearing supply they
might have a taper bearing of the size needed to do the job
without machining the bearing. You would need a 26x48x13 or
something that had a 26mm inner and 48mm outer diameter.
The height could be in a range from 13-16 or 17mm if such a bearing does exist.
