A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I just picked up a 82 GS 650G. What other model seat's will fit,,,if any. Thanks.

Hi,

Why do you want to change seats? If your seat pan is good you can fix the foam and recover it any way you want.

I'm guessing that the '83 650G seats might fit. I doubt the earlier ones will fit because a few things changed between the '81 and '82 model years.

Normally you would compare part numbers. If you go to alpha-sports.com, look up the part number for your seat, then plug that number into their "Special Tools", "Parts Finder:All" menu at the top of the page, you will get a list of all the bikes that part number is used on.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Thanks for the info.

My seat pan is badly rusted. No foam at all. No cover. The shop told the PO that it couldn't be covered. That's what he told me any way. I may attempt it myself just to give me something to park my butt on.

The local junk yard wants $150. It doesn't hurt my feelings they don't have one.

I wanted to know the interchange in case I find something on ebay,,or where ever. Thanks again.

$150? wow,I hope they'd throw in the rest of the bike-if they had it! Take some measurements- I can tell you if my 81 "L" seat would work, so you could go trolling on ebay.

I actually used the seat from my old 82 550L model on my 82 1100 L model while my 1100 seat was being rebuilt. It was a bit smaller but locked right in place.

I have a hard time thinking that rust would keep them from rebuilding your seat. It will cost a bit more to remove the rust but it is not that big of a job.

I am having my seat completely rebuilt from the pan up right now and it should cost around $200 when they are done.
