A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So my bike ('82 GS1100G) went down a month and a half ago and its been in the shop since. The guys I take it to are pretty overbooked and keep telling me they cant find the gear set from the secondary drive to the drive shaft. They have checked ebay without any luck on a set. Since they arent available from the factory anymore so any help would be great.

What's wrong with it?
Are the gears destroyed or did it break the threaded stub off?

I'm assuming just the gears are torn up. They didnt specify on anything other than the gears I will get more info today. The shops parts guy took friday off and they arent open mondays. I just need a matching set of gears. We cant find any online.

For what it's worth, the 1000G shares the same gears. Expanding your search horizon may help locate a set.

that pulls up the secondary bevel but I will call and see if this is what the Mechanics looking for. give me an hour.

I've seen a couple drive gear assemblies for a GS1000G and GS1100G on ebay for around $40 but don't see any of the driven gear sets. I may have one at the house but I'll have to check first. Just for clarification: All the 1980 to 1984 GS1000/GS1100G secondary gear sets are the same.

WillGelroth47, if you go to partzilla.com and look up bike bike/year model under the OEM parts section then the part of the bike you need to look at, get the part number from the parts fiche and plug it in at the top of the page where it says, "search". This will return you a list of bikes that part is used on. This part may be on eBay without any part number given for a different bike as there are often several, if not many, applications.

Partzilla's parts fishe is good in that it shows what other bikes the parts were used on. In the case of these gears that has already been determined so no need for further digging.

Part # 24911-49001. Second drive gears.
as well as 24921-49002 for the set.
If any one could spare these for cheaper than $450.00 each that would be awesome of anyone.

It would be nice to know exactly what the problem is. You may only need one component and maybe some shims.
