    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey well a few days ago I decided I'm was going to, A. rake out the front end a little, give it a new custom paint job(yes, again). and do some little changes like dropping all the gauges and just getting a digital speedometer, ext. Well, heres my progress, 1st day or work on it, I still need to make new mounts for the tank and touch up some paint on the forks and such, but I'm rebuilding the forks tuesday anyways. So here she is, before

Wow - I really like the look of that! What is the new paint scheme you have planned?

Did you have the seat custom made or buy it somewhere? I'd love to know where you got it.

Wow great looking ride! What year and model? I have a 84 1100 g and I am head in the same direction with its mods. Where did you get the lowered shocks?
 
you want to change THAT????? Geez.... someone has TOO MUCH MONEY and TIME on their hands.

That bike ROCKS already.... wow. I'm not sure what to say.

I am assuming you rode it allread like that, but after looking really close do you still have 2 1/2 inches of clearance for your rear tire? At least from the picutres its looks less. If you don't the first bump is going too grind into the rear fender pan. Good luck with it. Like the color on the tank.
 
Thanks for the replies, the rear shocks are stock shocks just chopped springs. I'm only 145lbs(18 yrs old) so when it does bottom out it just bottoms out the shocks, the fender dosnt hit. The next paint job will be similar to this one, but black bottom of the peices and fade up to candy blue and then airbrush random black slash's in the peices, my friend photoshopped them in just for the heck of it, it'll look awesome. The reason for me changing it, well I work at a custom airbrush shop for motorcycles, so working with $4000 paint jobs every day, gets me picky about my own. Plus I'm going to be painting it, and I get paint for cost, so its not too bad. And also I cant stand no change, same old, or even worse= same as everyone else. BTW its a 82 gs850l. The seat I'm also going to chop down farther, I want it to hug a little closer. Its the stock seat, I cut down the foam, and made my own seat covor, not too bad for a 1st timer. I really like that when other ppl look at, it encourages them to do diffrent things to their own bikes, because I'm no professional, but yet anything is possible if you put your mind to it. plus its much more rewarding in the end knowing you never had any help on anything, you built it to your liking all by yourself. Unlike when someone complements the 50,000$ chopper you bought, they are complementing your money and taste, not really you. All my opinion, sorry for dragging on, hope it encourages some of you. Feel free to ask how to do anything. Any opinions on what to do next?-darren

so how did you rake it? actually cut and weld the frame or change the trees?
 
I like it. Both the before and after look good to me. Can't wait to see it when its painted.
 
What kind of bars are thoughts and how did you attach them to the stock tree? Also what controls are you using? Thanks,
 
Accually I made the bars from scratch, scrap metal, little welding, measuring, grinding, bondo and paint. Contols are basically stock, took off some of the things like choke lever and some other small things. Believe it or not I basically took a pie chunk out of the top rail of the frame infront of the tank, a lot of measuring went into play, it currently has about 52 degrees of rake(I know, dosnt look like it).. I cant wait to repaint it either and redo some things in the process, unfortunetly a minor ticket I just got and my camaro braking down on me is throwing me into a dreadfull lag(no alt. form of transportation, money, and lack of time). So the painting process wil be pushed to possibly next week. I'll keep ya updated, what do ya all think should be changed next? Thanks!-darren
 
Just checking to see if you finished your new paint job. Have you ridden the bike after raking it. I was thinking of doing the same thing, but was curious how bad it throws off the trail using all the stock components.
 
the rake took about 10 miles to get used to the new turning effect at slow speeds, highway it is friggin PERFECT!! around town I deft love it over stock, slow speed turning just took a little to get used to. for my riding style, i love it, perfect.-darren

Other changes I'd suggest: chunk the mufflers and slap some 2"-2 1/2" chrome pipe on it, pod the carbs, rejet and ride! GREAT looking bike! Reminds me of what I was doing to my '81 CB750 Honda before I had to sell it. If you didn't have shaft drive, I'd say change the rims, but from experience (Shadow) I know it's damn near impossible with a shaft.

The traditional chopper gods would be proud of you!
 
thanks for the comments, i heard a 1980 kz 1000 straight piped one time, it made me want to buy a harley :( , that nasty crackly noise for an exhaust isnt my thing. Right now it sounds... i'm told like a ferarri, or vette or something "mean". loaps at idle, and screams at top like nothing else(between a rocket and harley sound...) its stock headers with custom H pipe, to dual megaphone glasspacks with 2 1/4in hole in the inner core. so theres like 4 inches of packing, just enough to tone out the high pitch crap. i love it :D-darren
 
Hmm....wonder if I could fit a glasspack into my V&H 4-1 megaphone since it didn't come with baffles......
