    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Serious Carb. Problem Help!!!!!

I just complete the Stage 3 jet kit on my 80 1100E to find that the Fuel mixture screw on the #4 carb is stripped out. The other 3 are fine. What can I do to correct this very serious problem. Is it possible to heli coil it or do I have to start looking for another #4 carb. body. My funds are limited so an advice would be helpful.

there are some heli coil type thread repair kits that might work however you are probably SOL and should look for another carb
 
take it to a machine shop. They can drill out the old without boogering the threads. Then you can buy new a new mixture screw assm. I had to do this as well, but lucky for me, My dad own's a machine shop :)
 
Two different answers to one question... the real question is this: are the threads in the carb trashed, or is the head of the mix screw trashed, so you can't adjust or remove it?

If it's just the mix screw slot on the top, get a small, good drill bit like 1/8" and an EasyOut screw extractor. Drill a hole where the slot head used to be and use the EasyOut to back out the mixture screw. If the threads are trashed on the carb body itself, you really should find a new carb body, or you can try and use a small strip of teflon tape around a brand new mixture screw.

My mixture screw is fine its the carb body that is stripped. I have taken the mixture screw and the only damage found was a bad spring and washer. I can place the mixture screw back in but it won't catch a thread. I am looking for a new #4 carb. body at this time but so far I have had no luck. If anyone has one or knows where I might be able to get one please let me know. I guess this explains why I was running so rich last season

are the carb bodies different for the different sized gs motors?
 
I am not sure. I am running the orginal carbs. which I belive to be 34mm Mukunis. I would think they use the same carbs for others models but I not sure.

I have a 34mm #4 carb if you can't find one Float posts good, mix screw still in carb with emission plug send PM if interested was from a GS1000 should work --use your jets
 
Motorcyclecarbs.com is a place to go to. Give him a call. He works on GS carbs all the time. It doesn't cost but a call for professional advice.
