As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

SH 775 on a 1000E?.. It's tight.

1980 1000E, keeping the stock airbox. This regulator is big. Where have you guys been mounting them? Not close to fitting in the original R/R location.

I'm thinking the front of the battery box facing the engine, about the only spot I have found where it will fit. Also has the benefit of freeing up space for the SSPB where the old R/R used to be. Maybe the underside of the battery box, but it will get covered with road grime really quickly. I also looked under the frame above the carbs, but I don't think it will fit there.

Could make a much bigger mounting plate for the electricals to replace the small one that's there now, not sure I can make it big enough and still fit in the same place.

Anyone else have a better plan?

The Compufire is quite a bit smaller especially when you consider not having to have that huge mating connector. Since you never had a fuse box to start with
you will have to make room somewhere in any event.

The SH-775 v.s. CF size compare is in the SSPB install manual.

Download a copy of the install guide. It is a 13 page pdf file.

I already bought the SH 775, and it does have a fuse box, but there's not any extra space.

I'll look at Dale's thread, thanks.

Tom, it should mount the same as Ed's does. The 80' 1000E uses the same electrics panel as his.

Hi Dale,

Learned after the discussion in your thread that the SH-775 is larger than the FH009. It won't fit as easily.

My 775 lives where the ignitor used to be, on the right side of the battery box. Perfect fit. The ignitor is now where the old r/r was. BTW, i sealed up the ignitor with silicone. It has no sealing from the elements.

This is what I'm looking at…..

Also trying to make room for a SSPB in there somewhere.

My old FH0009 fit in this spot, but the SH-775 doesn't. Could make it fit, maybe, if you drilled a hole in the panel on the far rear edge, and trimmed the fins a little.

Tom, this is a 1979 GS1000L electrics panel. If you could find or get a different starter solenoid and mount it upside down, it 'should' work.

Electrics panel...

Is there room to mount it under the battery box like was done on the 850/1000G models?

Wouldn't it fit if you turned the SH-775 90 degrees and raised it up abit (make a alum plate with tapped holes to hold it)? skip the fancy connectors and just use spades direct to save space

Here's a comparison of the original (Right) and the replacement (left) on my GS750TZ...

I removed the helmet holder on my 850 and mounted my Electrosport there, outside the sidecover. I thought it would cool better there, and it didn't look too bad. I think I used only one of the bolts, and maybe a wire tie in the other R/R mount hole, attached to the frame.

Also trying to make room for a SSPB in there somewhere.

New plan, might work? Put the turn signal controller down on the frame about six inches lower than it is now. Just strap it to the frame since the hoop for the mounting bracket is broken off anyway. The SSPB in the top left corner where the signal controlller is now. Might just leave enough space for the R/R in the rear top corner?.. Maybe.

Got to see how big that SSPB is?.
