Anyone feel free to tell me this is not a good idea, but...
My once-black engine is looking a little grey from road dirt and advancing years. The solution? Once I give it a good wash, scrub and rinse, I let it dry and spray it with tire foam; comes up looking shiny and black (Not too much, because the residue is sticky and will pick up any dust until it dries off). The spray gets btwn all the fins, all those hard to reach places, no hassle.
It works well on the rubber bits too...
