DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I want to replace my turn signal with shorter ones as I always bang into them and one of the rear lenses is cracked. How many have done this and did you dump the marker lights up front and just turn em into turn signals by going singal filament or did you get a dual so you could keep the marker lights.

I was looking at LP short stalk II's balck and amber

You need to lose the marker lights up front on short stalks. I had a set with marker lights and in the summer the heat was too much and melted the housings. I use short stalks on mine. You can kind of make them out in this photo.

I went with shorties on my GS1000. I like them alot better than those old huge things sticking out. It makes it look much sleeker:

Oh, so that's why they don't work  . I was going to do some electrical checking to see why... which flasher did you buy to make them work?

yes which one. I measured the resistance and the orginals are 1.2 and the new at .6 I am assuming there isn;t enoght resistance to get the flasher to tick

I just use a cheap automotive type. Round with an aluminum housing, maybe $3 tops.

I chucked my originals coz they were too tatty (and tacky) looking and they stuck out so far on the rear coz a previous owner had mounted them on the gear sack frame. It was when they scratched my car in the drive way that I got motivated to kick them out.

I replaced them with some cheapys from a dirt bike, cost about $20 for the set of four.

Here is one small "feature" of the bike. On the top pic you will see a small dent below the K of Suzuki. Here's the story.

I was out riding a winding road along the side of a ridge near home when I saw a white ute several corners away and coming in my direction.
'If I can see him then he can see me' I said to myself. Wrong.

The corners took him out of line of sight for several seconds and I was guessing that he must appear any moment now, when he came round the corner on my side of the road. Obviously he hadn't seen me.

He chucked the wheel over to get to his side of the road, almost turning the ute sideways. In the movement he threw up a stone.

All I saw coming at me was a rock the size of a matchbox that hit me on the kneecap. Sudden agony from one knee but too much speed and winding road to take much notice. At least he didn't run me off the road.

When I got home, and the knee was starting to calm down, I washed the bike. That is when I saw the dent. The stone had hit the tank first, put that dent in there, and only after losing a significant bit of speed it hit my knee.

Sometimes I wonder what might have happened to my kneecap if it hit me straight off.

Here ends the thread hijack, back to blinkers, folks. :-)
