All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

side stand light/starter problems

I was finally able to pull the OP sender unit and it appears to be malfunctioning. My buddy ( auto mechanic) had it out of the block but still attached to the lead and grounding it to the case we blew some compressed air into it to simulate oil pressure. That caused the lights to go out so thinking it was essentially ok, we put it back in place and fired up the engine. Again the lights went out. I thought we had it sorted but a few tries later and it reverted to its old self....lights on.

We swapped it out for the one on the parts bike but it seems to be in even a worse state as it won't even ground went touched to the block.

At this point I'm still thinking I am ok for oil pressure and I have a defective sender which will be replaced as soon as I can get one. I'm also intending on picking up an oil pressure guage to verify that I do indeed have pressure. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Sorry for jumping on your thread Platinum and thanks to Old Skool and Killer2600 for all the valuable input.

Cheers all,
Spyug

what about a external pressure gauge? just to see how much its flowing
-no problem , i like to talk, and help if possible

Yeah , as I mentioned in that post I am going to try and get an oil pressure tester to make sure I'm good. As we all know, the worst thing for an engine is lack of lubrication and it doesn't take long for things to get ruined beyond repair.

I appreciate you allowing me to chime in as I often find ( as in this case) that someone will say something or put forward an idea that helps gives someone else that "eureka" moment. Without the input of Old Skool and Killer, I would still be chasing my tail. Its also helpful to know that other guys are going through similar issues. I think this is important for the new folks since they can see that old hands like me can have issues that they can't figure out too. This is the great thing about this forum, it truly is a community of likeminded (mostly) people willing and wanting to help others. I'm glad to be here.

Cheers and good luck with your issues.

Spyug.
