    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Signal light replacement

On my 83 gs 750es I decided to replace the turn signal lights to smaller ones. But of course the new lights are only 10watts as apposed to the 23 watts on stock so they just turn on and stay on and don't blink. I have done some reading here and some suggest that I get a new flasher unit. The old one I pulled out is a two prong kind. But the socket it came from has three slots and three wires.

So my question is what kind of flasher should I replace it with to get my lights to blink?
 
Sounds like someone already replaced the flasher. I am going to guess that your self-cancelling signals don't self-cancel?


Go to any auto parts store, get a two-prong flasher that will handle low loads. If you can't find one with two prongs, you will have to make some extension wires from the two pins that your current flasher is connected to, to the appropriate terminals on the new flasher unit, connect the new flasher's third terminal to ground. The third terminal in your stock harness is NOT a ground connection.

That is the advise you need!
 
I bought an HD12 flasher and popped it in and it works perfect even flashes a little faster which is good. And no, there was no self cancelling. That would be nice how could I go about getting that back.

For some reason Suzuki put a 3 prong plug with a 2 prong flasher on these bikes.:confused:
 
Well, looks like I am going to have to stand corrected on this one. :oops:

I just looked up in the factory service manual to find that the stock flasher relay IS a three-pin relay,
and that the third wire in the connector IS a ground. :o

The three wires in the connector:
Orange/green is power that feeds the flasher
Light Blue is the flashing output
Black/white is a ground.

Apparently this model did NOT have self-cancelling signals, so sorry about that.
