A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Eber notice that the bolt doesn't seem quite long enough to grab the nut with more than 2 ring connectors stacked? Shove a piece of sponge under the nut and stack away!

I snip two small pieces of the clear tubing that comes with them and do the same thing.

Good fix. I use a bit of hose myself.

Thanks for sharing and the pics.

Sound of hand smacking head............After 30 years of fighting with these ******* ****** ***** ******* ****** things...........:D

Save those crusty carb drain hoses now and then ..you can snip pieces from them to stuff under the nuts too.

Or, a little squirt of some silicone goo before you put it in the bike with the bolt holding the nut up. Then, even when jiggling, the nut is "glued" in and won't run for teh border.

I like the silicon idea. It did wonder how much moisture would be stored by the sponge, but I'm betting that it's basically a dry spot and I don't ride in the rain if I can help it.

Stacking a load of ring connectors on the battery is sloppy but w/e

Even with a single connector on each terminal, it's much easier this way. I just used the clipped off ends of the hose included with the battery, it worked great. Switching a battery back and forth between the one I'm riding and the one I'm working on was getting old, this is much easier now.
Thanks for the idea.

Instead of silicone, would a glob of dielectric grease work? Goop some in there and let harden. Or does that contract too much once dry?

BTW - I am face-palming HARD for never considering ANY of these ideas. I usually have to carefully prop up the square nut with a flathead until the threads catch.

It's amazing at how sometimes the simplest of solutions goes unnoticed for so long, great idea, I'm thinking I'm either going to do this or the silicone idea, I kind of like the silicone which will aways keep the nut embedded in it, so as not to run away.

brilliant! - now that is out of the box thinking!
I usually have similar brainwaves- but must admit I have never thought of that and I do have the exact problem! put glue and grease and all sorts to hold the nut in place.

cheers for that.

So...you have a crusty hose stuffed under your nuts?:eek:
...don't they have salves or unguents for that?:p:p
