If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I have a 1980 GS1100LT and was wondering if a rack/sissy bar from another model or even a different make might work. I would like to get a newer style one (flat stainless) if I could get one to fit. Also, are the frames on the 1100 the same?

Thanks,
Brian

You can make anything fit on these bikes.
The sissybar you kinda see below my helmet is off of an old school honda from the early 70's.

No, the L models always have different frames from their standard and sport counterparts.

I'm dealing with the same issue. I think I'll wind up fabricating my own luggage rack.

Thanks guys for the replies. I think I am going to have to fabricate one as well or at least modify one that I am happy with. I think I will make a trip to a bike wrecking yard and see if I can find anything I like. I really like the one that are being made for new cruisers, I think if I can find a mounting bracket or fabricate one then it should easy to find a sissy bar and luggage rack I will be happy with.
Thanks,
Brian

Take your bike with you to the yard, and compare mounts. Ask if you can take it back to compare different bike's racks to your mount points. Take a tape measure, too.

You'll be surprised what will fit, or can be easily altered to fit. I have the rack and trunk from a mid-80's Goldwing on my bike.

May want to check out Rice Paddy, they have some solid square bar sissy bars to fit the "L" models. They look like a knock off of the old Drag Specialties bars, with the gold wings insert.

A Harley mini rack will bolt on to the sissy bar, not a giant rack, but looks cool and works.

I picked up both off ebay, maybe $70 total.

The mounting is pretty simple. You'll have a pair of adjustable legs that connect at the upper shock mounts and you'll have a second pair of mounts coming to hook to the blinker supports. Well, the legs on a KG rack will be telescopic but I'm not sure about other brands.
