size problem with tube between airbox and carburator

hello everybody

problm with my gsx750 1980

removing the carburator, opening and cleaning them, no problem

trying to put them back, but I've got a problem to put the tube coming from the airbox on it

the tube are very old and hardened

putting tem into warm tix a couple of minutes and the are ready to put on the carbs

but they are too small

the outside connector on the carb is 53mm, the inside tube is 50 mm but the tubecan get perfectly into the airbox

the hole for the cponnector on the airbox is 54mm

on the airbox it's just written in withe "750", nothing else

I've read that it's possible that there are 2 carburator models ?

I've found not serial# on the carb or on the tube

on the tube between engine and the carb it's written "454L" or "454R" (2 of each type)

any idea ?

Well this may help to determine which carbs you have,measure the throat (inside diameter)on the engine side of the carbs,a 16 valve 750 should be 32mm, if it's 34mm they're for an 1100,they will work fine, but you won't be able to use that airbox,you must use either pod-type air filters and jet accordingly or find an 1100 airbox,on the other hand if you took them apart, they should go back together, however even with the right parts it can be a tight fit

Your carb. to airbox tubes have shrunk and hardened from age, time to buy new ones. The numbers 454R means they go on the right side, 454L goes on left.

for the L and R I knew, but it's just to know if those parts are the good parts

for the rest, they are hardened but they a too small to

3 mm to small

when I warm then and put onto the carb they cannot stay in place and they became cone-shaped
