A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

has anyone been using or tried "ride-on" flat preventer for motorcycles? Is it like the stuff that bicycles use? Anybody actually have it seal a leak or have anything strange happen?

I have not used the products you mention, however I have used PJ1's Balance Plus. This is a tire balancer and stop leak combo arrangement. It did work to slow a punctured tube but not seal it. All these products make a mess inside tubeless tires; shops get hacked if you don't inform them of the gunk inside when changing tires.

I don't know if it works or not but you can not fix a tube that has the stuff in it. The patch just won't stick.

Steve's right it's a one time deal. BTW I don't use this stuff anymore. Guess I should have put that in my original post.

This sealant stuff does work, got me out of a jam a few years back when I picked up a roofing nail in my rear tire resulting in a slow leak. Of course we were in the asshole of nowhere at the time, so I am never without a can of it when we go touring.
Jimcor is right, shops get right pissed off if you neglect to inform them that you've used this when you drop the tire off for repair. Messy stuff. :D

When I used to work part time at a local shop for parts money, guys would come in quite often complaining about tire balance problems. After fighting with a high end Snap-On computerized balancer for a while I'd tell the customer we were having issues balancing his tire. Only after that he would mention that he thought the tire might have some of this stuff in there. Anyway, in my opinion, you won't catch me with that goop in my tires.

most tire shops wont even waranty your tires if youve installed this stuff.

I checked one of the cans, it said specifically to not use it on motorcycles. Didn't say why.
