So its freezing out and im riding, why so hard to start?

haha no i made several threads even one on my friends motor "being toast" etc, and valve adjustments were always neglected, Cowboy as well as Tkent and several others advised me, you guys are right... the valve adjustment is the key to sucess in many ways. however the valves were done and the starting problem was afterwards BUT i figured out a surefire way for my bike to start now without hesitating (atleast left out in 30 degrees we'll see about single digits...) , i was giving a little throttle when trying to start the bike i noticed as it usually likes being started even the owners manual says, but as someone mentioned earlier the engine is much more prone to flooding and overal the whole process is VERY sensitive even 1/16 of throttle she wont start... so FULL choke/ NO throttle is perfect the bike jumps to life as soon as i press the button, and my idle is set to 1k rpm when fully hot, i cant wait to start it tommorow morning i'll let you guys know if my theory is wrong (although im sure its right) BTW i used 87 gas to fill up today as well...

so guys i really think the 87 gas may have made a huge difference (especially in my pocket), the bike now starts without even hesitating when its left out in the cold parking lot at school... i just warm it up for about a minute and the bike is ready to go! what a great feeling to have a bike that runs and starts right away... i've been through so much heartache with my bike its not even funny, i thank each and every one of you guys on here who just stay so active on the forums to help people like me out, im so proud that i never sold my leg to get the bike "fixed" by a shop owner whos claims he's been working on bikes since 1776.

A very good friend of mine had taken his gs1000 to the same guy im talking about for many problems because he was "just tired of wrenching on his bike", true story guys his motor no longer has compression thanks to the shop owner who did infact put used old parts on his bike every time even down to the sparkplugs, he was using used autolites- must have kept the fine b8es's for himself! Regardless if it was truly his fault or not the fact is the shop guy was the man "doing all the work" on the bike for the past few years so there you have it. i come to realize time and time that no body knows these bikes better than the folks here on GS Resources.
