A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Some people just dont know when to quit....

Great place to stand Dan, that would be awesome indeed!

Slayer, that would be daunting first time you see it

Quick question for you racing afficionados. I know I've been told to not remove my feet from the pegs when going through turns but I'm watching the Laguna race tonight on Speed finally and notice on some of the lefthanders that their feet come off and stay off until they tip in. Why is that?

if you mean "hanging the leg out" it is all down to weight shifting, getting the bike balanced before tipping it into the bend.
by moving the leg around they can literally shift the weight balance backwards or forwards to get the right feel.
it also helps as an air brake, to a certain degree and it is a slightly crafty but effective way of deterring other riders from trying to undertake you.

originally mastered by Rossi, after much banter and mickey taking other riders realized it actually works, and so is now used by majority of riders.

With regards to the foot, it works at superhuman speeds with superhuman skills. For ordinary riding, keep your feet on the pegs...

I also noticed Marquez taking the 'Rossi' line through the corkscrew in Q2. He was definitely planning to use it. So when the race came along he knew where he could go.

Now back to wildly speculating... who wants to see Cal and Stoner ride for Suzuki?? :D

Ha - you Aussies are getting soft. I met Jack Brabham many years back when i was a kid - The old man had helped him out on his first visit to NZ so we always saw him when he was back for the Tasman series.
Now that man would never have retired because he didn't like what was happening. He would have forced a change to suit himself.

Sadly, that was when race teams were likely to listen to drivers about things other than the actual machinery they were operating.

It was done by a lot of riders in the 50's through 70's, too. Many had prior dirt track experience and if you do, to, then you will know that it feels natural. I myself am inclined to do it on the leadin to fast corners.

see my earlier pic (post #18), he was planning it way before qually started, i think that shot was taken after FP2

Cal and Stoner on Suzuki? Nah... love my Suzuki's but unless they put actual $$$ into MotoGP I can't see them doing much again...

I think Cal is ready to go to ANY factory team...Stoner is done. Just my .02

Suzuki was scheduled to come back in 2014, they tested last month with a competitive bike (would have qualified 6th) but are now waiting to 2015 due to some upcoming rule changes from Dorna (like a spec ECU)

Cal was looking for the Suzuki ride, hard to believe he's bitching about the Tech 3 ride

Stoner - he won't come back, he's tired of all the politics and money issues. No decent seats available anyway

wow, that must have been an awesome place to spectate from. they always emphasize on the TV that the cameras do not justify how steep the corkscrew actually is.

You have to see (or ride) it to believe it. The left at the top of the Corkscrew drops off all the way down thru Rainey and to the start of the front straight. It's long and it's steep. almost like a ski jump hill

Kenney Roberts would wheelie his F1 bike (694cc GP bike) off the left hander at the top and land turning right, back in the day

That was a spectacle

Dan's photo is turns 2/3, not the Corkscrew

Aaaah yes that's right! I had forgotten the 2014 return...

Cal needs a better bike... if he could get those first few laps sorted a bit better then he'd be up the front a hell of a lot more often I reckon... of course I'm just sitting in front of a TV screen though :)
