A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Source for jets etc

I am going to be doing a carb job on my 86 GS550ESG this winter. They are the double body. I have already sourced the gaskets, the o rings for the manifolds where they connect to the head, and I believe the o rings that Rob Barr sells will fit some of the o - rings that I want to replace on the carbs as well. The rest of the o-rings I will source from bikebandit. I want to get a spare (new) set of jets and mains for the carbs. Bike bandit has them listed, but was wondering if anyone has another source for these items.

The carbs are Mikuni BSW30SS with
95 (1 and 4)
97.5 main jets
1.0 Main Air jet.
p-3 needle jet
37.5 pilot jet
110 Throttle valve
55 Float valve seat
100 Starter jet
150 Pilot Air jet
Or does some one know of a jet kit for these bikes
I am also going to be redoing the choke connections to the carbs.

Why a complete spare set of jets? The brass ones should last forever, except the needle jet and needle can wear.

I have an extra pair of carbs off a different bike that I won on Ebay (I believe an ED) that are the same carbs with different jets and mains, so I want to set them up like the originals to have a clean, redone backup set, so I don't lose any riding time.... :)

I'm not knocking your plan, but a complete cleaning and rebuild only takes part of the day, maybe all day if you get really picky. Would save you some $ and not lose any riding time. :)
If the bike is ridden regularly and the tank is clean, the carbs shouldn't need service for a long time.
Again, not knocking, just suggesting. :)

I understand what you are saying completely...but I am a typical Yankee pack rat, and have a ebay fixation on top of that. Now that I have the extra carbs, I want to redo them and have an extra set for the bike. I can also use them to play around with jetting and the like, and keep the stock ones, well, stock, and ride as I re-jet the others, etc etc etc...

The first reason I bought them was to practice taking them apart to see how different they were from the 4 carb set up on my T models so I didn't have to disturb the stock ones and possibly lose riding. I also noticed that there is no rebuild kit for them, so I was also looking to see what sort of o rings and the like I would be looking for when I redid the stock ones from the bike. After taking one apart, I am now going to see if the O ring kit I purchased from Mr. Barr for the T models will fit any of the O rings that I would want to replace on the dual body carbs.

So - in conclusion :) - I am just playing and experimenting, but don't want to do that with the stock ones on the bike..I want to leave them untouched until I am comfortable taking them off...
