    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

spark plug helicoil

O K, I did it, I stripped the threds on #2 cylinder. How difficult a repair is it to use a helicoil? Any idea what a kit is worth? Can I do this with the head still on? Any ideas on this would be most appreciated, thanks Ric. :oops:
 
#1 Not too difficult.
#2 Under $10.00 for a One repair kit.
#3 Yes, Head on it OK, But use Grease on the tap to prevent shavings
From getting into the Cylinder.
#4 Use Anti-sieze on the Spark plug threads upon reinstallation.
#5 Stare proudly at having done it quick and easy and beat chest!
#6 Ride!!!

Sitck a compressed air nozzle in the tailpipe and make sure #2's exhaust (but not intake) is open so any fragments can be blown back out.

After you try the grease, and the commpressed air crank it with the plug still removed. Maybee some sort of fluid would help as well. The cranking will blow out and left overs plus the fluid(messy). Use a rag to catch to mess.
 
Picked up the kit today, helicoil 5334-14, cost me $57.00 cdn. Gonna give it a try after dinner. Thanks for the help,let ya know how it goes. Ric. :D :D

OK, Lied.....Autozone, Conway, AR..$14.95 :twisted:
 
Installed the kit the other day, worked great. The grease on the tap cought most of the shavings, the instructions called for high heat RTV, but I didn't have any, so I used locktight. Seems to be working well. :D :D
