A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Curious if any other GK owners have replaced the speakers in their fairing. Any suggestions for a good sounding speaker that will fit?
Thanks,

I'm not sure what dia. speakers come on a GK, but check these guys out:

My buddy just swapped to a set of these speakers and they sound SWEET compared to OEM stockers..

Yup, the question is "what size?"

If you need 4" speakers, take a look at these. I just put a set of 4" in the front and some 5.25" in the back of my son's car. They sound really nice. They are water resistant, but are cheap enough to replace them every few years, so it does not really matter. 8-[

Those speakers linked above would work fine for you if they fit. The things you need to look for are Poly(propelene) or metal cones with rubber surrounds. If you get a paper cone and a foam surround it'll disintegrate if it gets wet while your playing it. Also high humidity affects paper cones alot. Be aware that the many speakers out there that advertise kevlar cones are really a paper cone with some kevlar weave in it.

Parts Express is a great place to shop for this kind of thing. They are also very helpful. If you call them up they'll help you get the best bang for your buck....

Thanks alot for the response. Steve, I think I'll go with the speakers from Parts Express in light of my being on a loooow budget. Interesting that they contain ferrofluid. I worked with that stuff back in the early 70's when I was a tech in Philip's R&D labs in NY. Ferrofluid was being used as gear oil in a sterling cycle motor used to drive an artificial heart. Amazing stuff.
