A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Back in the saddle again, again!

Back in the saddle again, again!

Hi!

I took my first commute into work today since my crash on June 20, 2009. I haven't enjoyed the traffic so much in a long time. :D

...kind of a weird, but satisfying feeling?

Cliff,

I celebrate with you.

Yes, More pics please. What have seen so far is impressive. "Film at 11", you say. How about the 6 o'clock news?

So you get your bike back together and have a earthquake.
I get my headlight wiring problem fixed and have thunderstorms and hailstorms.

Way to go Cliff!!!! :D That is GREAT news!!! How does it handle & how are the BRAKES?!!! Ray.

Thanks Ray!

The handling is neutral. I don't notice any detrimental changes from the crash. The new bushings on the shocks helped. I'm still taking it a little easy until I get my "sea legs" back, so to speak. I'm going to get Ian to ride behind me in the next day or two to check the tracking, but it feels fine, steers straight, stays solid when I take my hands off the bars, so I think I'm in pretty good shape. The new brakes are better than the old brakes and are performing well. The steel lines and caliper rebuilds are highly recommended by BassCliff.

Dave,

I'll have a little "treat" for everyone as soon as I get home and upload it. After I give Jessie a good cleaning I'll find a scenic spot for some decent pictures. Thanks for celebrating with me. I hope your weather clears soon.

Bill,

I promised Mrs. BassCliff no more crashes. She was a little uneasy when I left this morning, but she trusts me. It's all those other nuts on the road that she worries about.

Thank you for your indulgence,

Nuts? I thought it was rocks?
Well nuts, rocks, cars, whatever. All the same. When you see one, don't look at it, look at the clean pavement next to it.

Congratulations!

Thank you! Excellent advise. I hope I've learned my lesson.

Full circle Cliff. Way to go !!! Hows the knee by the way ?

Thank you Dave.

My knee is all healed up. It's still a little stiff and sore. Some days are better than others, but they're all good days. I have full range of motion, can take stairs two at a time, I can run, I walk all over campus at work, etc. I don't quite have all of the strength back in my left leg but I'm working out 4 or 5 days a week to remedy that.

While I'm working on a new video to commemorate my first commute, here are a few pictures I took when I got home this evening. I haven't had a chance to polish and detail, but I thought you all would like some better pictures. :)

Dude, I can appreciate the indulgence and everything, but at least give the girl a baseball bat for checking out the knee armor.!!

And can you for God's sake pull a wheelie or something?
