A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I'm searching, but I think I'm a little retarded.

I want to put spoked rims on my 80 gs450, so what models should I be looking at? is there a list somewhere with sizes? other makes?

better yet, is there a dual front disk spoked wheels and a disc rear spoked?

I know the front rim on my 400 is set up for dual disks. Don't know about rears though. Curious myself, as a rear disk would be cooler. If they were available would they fit my bike?(are the axels the same size as the bigger bikes?)

did a bit of digging and the spokes wheels did come with disk rear brakes. Now about axel size. Did Suzuki run the same axel diameter on all GS's? Anyone?

No... but I believe the hub is the same size... all you need is the correct bearing set & axle for the bike you're fitting them to.

Don't take that as Gospel but I think I'm right. (At least it is between the 750 & the 1000)

Dan :)

I made the switch on mine, looks infinitely better.

I believe the fronts are fairly universal with no issue on axle size. As mentioned above, the fronts are all drilled for dual disc so you can use single or dual.

The rear was bolt up for me. Depending on size of the bike, this is where you may need to change out bearings to match the axle. 750 & 1000 are the same, not sure about smaller bikes.

lemme know what ya come up with, i was thinking the same thing but didnt get into reading yet

so no spoked wheels on modern inverted forks, huh?
Ducati, MotoGuzzi, etc...

The only problem with regard to spokies for you fat tire junkies. 120 rear is the standard on the 750/1000 spoke rear rims. 100 up front. A 130 on the back is really pushing it. It pinches pretty bad, unlike most of the cast wheels, which you can get away with 130s and even 140s on some without TOO much pinch. I am personally a spoke junkie, simply the sexiest wheel ever made IMO, but, unfortunately, unless you can get ahold of something from a modern bike with spoke wheels, and manage to get lucky as far as axle sizes, rotor vs sprocket side, spacing and all that, you're pretty much stuck with skinny minies on the spoked GS rims.
