All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

My bike still is doing the same stuff i thought it was fine. The shop told me one of the carbs is still dirt and hard to clean?but my bike runs fine around 70mph and under but when i give it full throttle and go past 70 it sputters and clears out and keeps doing that but seems fine when i dont go so fast?
I still feel like i got screwed on the deal since i got my bike cause i traded a running and driving 1990 GMC EXT CAB 1500 for this bike and i bet he had no problems when this bike has almost been a lemon since day one.

Also it does seem to pop alot when driving and idling but it did that since day one.i almost feel like putting the stock exhaust and air filter on it.to see if it makes a difference.

I have had the exact same issue with my 81 GS1000GL. Take a look at my threads related to airflow to the carbs. Some GSers gave some excellent advice. I was told I either needed to lose the pods or fabricate a sheild to prevent inconsistent windflow. Let me know how you make out.

My 650 did it, i tweaked the idle mixture half a turn leaner and it went away, cant explain it.

Do you know for certain if the carbs have been re-jetted to compensate for the mods on your bike ? Have you looked at your plugs to see if your lean or rich ?:)

Thanks RedMike ill take a look at your threads.
Where is the idle mixture screw located i see this screw underneath my carbs but it seems to adjust the idle.I wanna take a look at my plugs tommorow last time i checked them out they were tan.The owner i traded my truck for said the carbs were re-jetted and synced but he just said that nothing was in paper.

Ya i know once i get a little cash again i wanna get a service manual for my bike.
