Hello, I have a 1982 gs450 And I'm having issues with the starter. once and awhile when I start it and when I let go of the button it keeps turning over. Just replace the starter solenoid any ideas?

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.
Your starter button needs cleaning and/or it has a weak spring causing it to stick. Fix soon,as it might not unstick sometime !

I just replaced it, like a month ago because I didn't have one before..
So you replaced the whole right hand assembly, or just the button? Used? You said you replaced solenoid also. Anyways, if button only sticks once in a while,whether new or used, it still requires disassmbly.

Seems like the new solenoid is working fine now. it did it once but has not happened again. I will watch it for the next week and see whats going on

Ok, so... Im still haveing the issue... The solenoid is bandnew never used. I dont know if its the stater switch becuase I was driveing last night I come to a red light and all of a sudden it dies and keeps trying to turn over again without even pushing it. Anymore ideas? could it be the starter motor?
The bike died at the red light, and the the starter automatically cranked? Wow, I don't see how you could have messed up wiring new solenoid up and have this problem only at random times, so I'm sticking with a faulty starter button/wiring in right switch-you know the one that you were holding when the bike suddenly died (bad kill switch wiring also?)

This bike is a bit of a mess.. I was looking at some of the wireing and what I saw was that the starter relay is connected to the two turn signal cables. And whats weird is that the two wires for the turn signals have to be touching for the starter relay to work. Does this sound right or no?
Head to Basscliff's site and find a wiring diagram- you might be misreading the wires, but obviously the turn signal circuit has nothing to do with the starter circuit. Best to pull tank, and go exploring the wiring world of suzuki.
