    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

starting electrical problem....

My bike's been starting on and off randomly. Sometimes when i push the start button there is no sound at all, and the other times it fires up like a champ.

At fisrt I assumed I had some problems with fuses, but after replacing them all and cleaning all the connections very good, I checked them all and all of them should be working...

Now I am thinking it might be the starter soledoid. I've done search on techinical on it, and don't understand most of it. So if you have a clue to my problem, serve it to me like I am retarded. :lol:

On the solenoid I see 3 wires plus the ground to the frame. I have cleaned the ground to the frame very well. The red, battery terminal side of the solnoid gives me 12 when i check it to the ground on the bike. The ground terminal, when checked for the continuity to the bike frame, gives me nice connection. Makes sence, since it goes to the starter which is grounded. Now the 3rd wire I traced back to the clutch lever. I've checked the cluth lever, by checking continuity on its two wires under the headlight. When I engage it it gives nice contact.
Here is the part that confuses me. There is continuty among the two big terminals on the solenoid. WTF? Should they connect only when the motorcycle is starting?

Any suggestions would be very appriciated...

I have a feeling your problem is very simple and, for sure, not the solonoid or the starter. Here's a guess....did you or anyone else ever bypass the safety deal that requires you to pull in the clutch in order to start it??? :?:

Many of us have done that and if the piece of metal that was used to override the bypass is loose, that could easily account for it. If it has been bypassed on your bike, try pulling in the clutch lever and see what happens! :!:

I am usre its not that. There are 2 wires coming out from the clutch lever, and they have connection under the headlight. (where the whole wire bundle is)

I have disconected them there, put on the voltemeter on each connection and every time I pull the cluthc 3/4 of a way in, it gives me a good continuty sound.

I think one of those 2 wires goes to the start button and the other to the solenoid.

I just took the whole kill switch/start button assembely off and cleaned everything up. Once i got to the wire i checked it if it closes the circuite and it does. So that is ok as well...

I did check if I get any voltage on the green/yellow wire that goes to the solnoid and I get 0v. Even when I try to start it. So I think problem is somewhere in lines from the switch to the solenoid.

I cant trace the damn wires that go from kill/start. I'll take the tank off to see if I can see anything more but it seems lke they only go into the main electrical harnes....

Any other ideas to check?

You need to check voltages. Since you have no voltage on the solinoid when the start button is pushed you need to trace it back
Solonid
Starter disconnect
Side stand sw if equiped
Started button
stop/ Run switch
Fuse block

Well you cleaned all the conections how about all the grounds too? Other than that I would definitly trace the wires back find where the weak point is and hopefully fix it good luck! I just went through a similar day in the park :twisted:
