DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Still confused about rings

I have asked this question before, but am still confused. I have an 82' 850GZ. It is stock pistons. I ordered a set of (25-3) piston ring set and because it said at the end (STD) I assumed that it meant standard. I saw (24-1) that the piston listed there was (STD) meaning standard. However when I ordered the piston rings (STD) and put the top ring in the barrell, it overlapped meaning that it was oversized. Just a little frustrated about the fiches saying this and "assuming" that it was standard. I ordered (25-1) set of rings the other day. I would appreciate it if I could get an explanation of this whole (STD) business. Thanks guys.

24-1 PISTON (STD)12111-45110 4 $38.67
24-2 PISTON SET12103-45830-050 (replaces 12111-45110-050) 4 $65.19 24-3 PISTON (OS:1.0)12111-45110-100 4 $34.19

25-1 RING SET, PISTO12140-45121 (replaces 12140-45120) $21.40
25-3 PISTON RING SET (STD)12140-49001 $25.80

According to the on-line catalog at both Alpha Sport and Motogrid, you need P/N 12140-45121.

Thanks Nessism. Yeah, I kinda figured that out now after spending that money for the other set of rings and putting them on and having them overlapped in the cylinder walls.

huh, sorry to hear your troubles but as far as i remember both nessism and i told you you needed 25-1, no?

Group 24 is pistons......24-1 is standard bore......24-2 is .5mm OS....24-3 is 1.0mm OS
Group 25 are rings ......same deal

That's how I read the parts list.

Yeah I know Psyguy. I guess when I ordered, I was in the midst of looking at other stuff/searching and then when I ordered, I had just thought the (STD) was for my pistons. My fault. In the near future when I order, I will pay more attention. Thanks.

yeah, i know, it took me a while to get my head around those parts-fiche
btw, there is also sometimes a "set" of pistons AND rings sold together (oversize only i think), so that adds to the confusion too
will they take your parts back or have you opened all the packets???

I opened all the packets and put them on and oiled them around the pistons. So I don't think they will take them back. It's okay. Thanks.
