A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Stop indicator light

red1100

Forum Mentor
Just came back from a 350 mile round trip to Backfire in Seattle and noticed on the way home my stop indicator light was flickering even though the brake light was working fine. Anyone have any idea what causes this? I?ll give my critique on Backfire tomorrow.

No idea what bike we're talking about.
The only clue we might possibly have is that his username is "red1100". :-k

I think that the 1100E came with a "monitor panel" that monitored some functitons, including the brake light. If the actual brake light was fine, check the condition of the solder connections on the circuit board in the monitor panel. I have heard that some of them had problems with "cold" solder joints. Simply re-heating the solder joints on the board, letting the solder re-flow in the joint might clear up your problem.

.

Could also be the switch under the brake lever needs to be cleaned and adjusted.

Just do like I did, any lights in the panel that came on randomly or I didn't really care about, I removed the bulbs. lol

Another thought to add here:

Had same 'brake light' warning flash on panel. Over about a month and maybe a thousand miles....the occasional flicker became not so occasional. Then (I think) headlight warning light flashed then steady. Checked and cleaned all related connections / connectors. Turned out that the "Lamp Outage Warning Relay" had failed. Purchased a good used one from a former GSR member....10 years later...all is still well.
