A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

hey any 1 got any secret potions to free up the motor on my new project, its sat 27 years if any 1ns got a good idea id like to hear:D it, thank you.....

Pull the spark plugs & spray PB Blaster in the spark plug holes. Do it again the next day. Do it again the day after that & keep trying to turn the crankshaft every day until it turns. Or you could just take the motor apart right now because you will anyway if the motor is stuck. Ray.

Take the engine apart, like Ray says, if it frees up, rebuild it. Running it as is will usually put you in BFE anyways. Better to rebuild now than later.

Or.....Get another engine, possibly the same bike with the engine that is not stuck. That way mix and match the chassis parts.

If a 7, I would go 11. That's a project.

I like PB for old stuck parts.....If you can get a hold of a can of Kroil (aerosol or liquid) that stuff is the Bees Knees as well......A good soaking for a couple days with this stuff will free up some bad things.......................Good Luck

Diesel or kerosene down the plug holes for a few days. I don't agree that you will definitely have to rebuild it. If the rings are just stuck with light surface rust sometimes they come free with no damage to the bore.

Penetrating oil is the ticket. Marvel Mystery Oil works well also.

If the engine doesn't free up pretty quickly, most likely there is going to be damage. Hope that is not the case.:)

True, dat. Another great product for this is Marvel Mystery Oil.

I've rescued a bunch of stuck engines over the years, most worked well enough afterwards.

27 years?

$200 on a top end rebuild, if that, for piece of mind any day of the week. Takes what a few hours if all good. Each to their own, I suppose.

Instead of trying to turn the crank, put bike in 4th or 5th gear & with clutch enguaged, rock the bike back & forth, kind of hammering the driveline against the stuck parts. As the slack in the drivetrain is taken up both ways, it kind of jars the stuck parts back & forth, helping to loosen them. Also no chance of stripping threads or twisting off something on the end of the crankshaft. Of course, like said, penetrant of somekind in sparkplug holes first. Just my opinion

thanks every1
