A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Anyone used one? Are the gear ratios listed the proper ones? Thinking about these guys when the income taxes come back..the chain and sprockets on my 77 750 are toast.

Also was wondering if the ( stock ) chain and sprockets from a 78 1000C would interchange with the 77 750. I have a full set of good front and rear sprockets and a great chain, so was pondering using them on the bike as well.

Hmmm...I used the Z1 set up. My stock sprockets were 15/41 with a ratio of 2.733333 and with the conversion 18/49 with a ratio of 2.72222
They are saying with sprockets of 16/45 with a ratio of 2.8125. That is a bit off from what Z1 recommended for my bike to stay as close to the stock ratio.

So your bike is: Stock 15/41 2.73333 same as mine and Sunstars conversion 16/45 is a 2.8125. Don't know what that would translate to engine RPM in high gear. couple hundred faster?

But what about me directly swapping the good ones on the 78 1000C ovet to the 77 750? If i can do that i will be able to save the cash and still be able to ride the 750...see what I am asking as far as can these interchange???

I don't know thats why I didn't answer that part:-k

They will fit , weather the ratio is the same not sure.
I just looked in the PU catalog in it list's the ;
750- 15- -41 630

1000--15 --42 ----630, both 96 links
so yes just a little lower geared

I sent Eric Bang an Gmail earlier and he responded the same Harry...so its a go then on the swappage.

The 78 1000C sprocket and chain swap was a resounding success. Bike is so much quieter with smooth running rollers on her.

I'm currently going over the conversion parts and Sunstar does pop up often. They seem to the current leader when it comes to pricing. Is their quality that much more than the other conversions? I've got an email out to Jeff at Z1 to see where he is in this. I'll take quality over pricing, but where is the point of diminishing returns?
