A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

hey guys,
Im new to this forum and what im seeing in here i really like and it seems there are alot of knowledgeble guys here. so ill start off by saying i have a 79 gs1000 in excellent condition that was recently passed down to me by my dad. it was kind our little project the last few years. its got a 4 into 1 exhaust, pod filters on the carbs, dyno jet carb kit in them, and i changed to some drag bars. im interested in updating the suspension. ive stumbled into a few threads on swaps but none of them seem to be a detailed build thread. maybe im just not finding the right ones. the end goal here is being able to run a wider radial tire while still keeping it close to the roots of the bike. id like to do it with the dual shock suspension so i can keep the electronics located where they are and stick with the cafe racer look that im going for with out going to radical. from the reading ive seen the gs1100 swing arm seems to be the way to go. i could also like convert the front end to a upside down carterige shock and modern brakes and tires up front. im a big guy, 6'5" 300 pounds so the suspension upgrades are a pretty nessecary thing for me. so basically what im asking for is someone to point me to a relevant build thread or someone that has done it that could help me with some pictures and exact parts i need to buy for this build. thanks alot guys. ill post some pics of my bike when i get back to the house and take a couple

oh, im not afraid of doing some fab work. i can weld and i have been working in bike shops off and on wrenching for years part time.
