I know someone who has a pair of brand new stock mufflers for one of those hanging on his shed wall.

This someone wouldn't happen to be Stateside, would they? Have looked for a set of stockers for quite some time.

It's the true OEM seat fitted on non US models.
I provided the original seat cover to the guys in Thailand in order for them to reproduce it.

G'day again David, just found another red and white "S" on Gumtree Australia,

Good afternoon everyone, I've just joined after trawling the net for the last few weeks looking for GS1000S resources. I bought the red and white GS1000S that is mentioned. It is now being worked on by a Suzuki specialist on the Sunshine Coast Queensland.

I've always wanted a GS1000S - since I saw one in the flesh about 1983...I nearly bought a road-going blue and white GS1000S a few years ago but my employment was uncertain and I didn't follow through.

I'm in two minds about restoring my GS or leave it with the lovely aged patina it has.

About me - former educator who became disenchanted with teaching after 20 odd years (High School/TAFE and Uni)- I resigned and went back to being a signwriter.

I have 2 Yamaha TX750s, 2 Yamaha XJ650Ts, a couple of XJs - 650 & 900 and 3 more TX750s in pieces, a TL125 and now the GS1000S.

Looking forward to speaking with all you guys in the near future.

Cheers!

That is a great looking bike, aluminum swing arm even. Gas oil and wax... I would ride it like the wind.

The bike has been fitted with later model GSX1100 front and rear suspension (forks and swingarm) - the originals went with the bike as well.

I'm thinking these same thing, a buddy of mine has the bike at the moment - he's given the bike a good look over and has asked me to get some replacement parts.

First up is the rear upper mudguard section - sits under the ducktail and the rear indicators bolt into it - Part number #363113-49000-291....mine is busted, looks like a rock went through it. I ask if anyone has a lead on this part, anywhere - I'll pay for it and shipping to Australia. Secondly would be a taillight lense/unit to suit, this is confusing as there are many part numbers for the same lense..?20151128_091342 - Copy.jpg

Cheers,

Good evening, I've been busy tracking down parts suppliers during evening hours and have had some positive results so far...
I found a business in Victoria Australia who stock parts at a realistic prices - I bought 4 needle/seat sets from them yesterday for the GS1000S - cheap as (AU$13.50 each plus AU$7.90 postage for Australia). Communication is excellent - site uses 'PayPal' and is no fuss in every way.

Look for this part number KYV-83023 at $13.50 each.
Copy and paste this - http://www.motorcyclespareswarehouse.com.au/

Next up was the fuel bowl gaskets - made even harder because of the unique carbies for the 1980 model - I came upon "Mick Hone Suzuki" in Victoria - I emailed then about the fuel bowl gaskets and they assured me that they would have them to me - just go ahead and make the sale on their page, so I did. No problem at all with the Legend Mick Hone responding with info and suggestions for GS1000S parts. A true gentleman in every way.

When you arrive at Mick's website, just type in 13251-49120. These are the correct gaskets so I'm told - I sent a scanned image of correct gasket to Mick before I bought 4 more - they're on their way north now.

Next up is the seat cover - I believe that a manufacturer in Thailand makes excellent versions, is this true..?

Cheers..

The reason for the differing part numbers for the light/lens is that Suzuki had to supply very slightly different units to countries in order to comply with variations in lighting regulations. Suzuki used a code to identify the regions/countries, but I don't know the exact code for Oz. I expect one of your dealers would know.

For Thai seat covers, search 'Pit replica' on here to get some reviews.

This is a great find as these parts are no longer available from Suzuki.
Please keep us informed on how they fit as I want to order some myself.
Be aware that Suzuki reused the PN's from the GS 1000 ST for some other parts...
The Pit Replica seat for the GS 1000 ST was modelled from an original I sent them some time ago.
Here's what their copy looks like

Good morning,

Thank you for the name of the seat cover manufacturer, I'll be looking them up tonight and ordering. I found a parts supplier in the UK who has GS1000S stuff in stock - I'm interested in the repro fairing brackets - this business has both new and used parts.
See this link...the owner's name is Nick. http://www.suzukiperformancespares.co.uk/

I see from internet searches and reading threads here that the mirrors (left and right) are 'Unobtanium'...What are the chances of locating mirrors here? Slim?- I see that the author over at 'The Flying Banana' suggests modifying a later model Suzukis'.

Very nice bike you have John Kat!

Cheers

I've ordered parts from http://www.suzukiperformancespares.co.uk/ before without any issue.
Have you received the gaskets for the carbs?
What about the needles/seats.
In case you have an issue getting them I know a trick to make your own from existing Suzuki parts.
BTW there is one source for GS 1000 ST decals!
The company is located in Canada: http://www.bdesigns.ca/Main_Suzuki.htm

Cheers

Hi John, the fuel bowl gaskets arrived safely today - even had an email from Mick Hone where he states that these are rare bikes and worthy of looking after.

Cheers!
