Suzuki GS400L 1982 - Headlight conversion to H4 bulbs

Hello,

I just blown my headlight that is a sealed beam 12v40W 5-3/4'' Dia. from my old nice GS400L 82.

I saw that there's some conversion headlight unit that could take H4 bulb. I want to know if someone did it and if it would fit in my setup..

Not familiar with that particular size, but H4 conversions are popular with the larger size lamps. I did just that on one of my old 550's with a 7" lamp.

BTW, that linked light is expensive. You can find cheaper if you search around.

it was a drop in replacement, factory wiring harness plugged right in to the H4 bulb i got

It's the exact same product I have on my bike, and it works great.


Also, I'm not sure how your bike differs from mine specifically, but be sure that the bulb you buy is no higher in wattage than the existing sealed beam bulb you had before. your factory wiring harness is only good for so much current.

I was very satisfied with the quality of this part. Basically, what you are doing is replacing the sealed beam with an identical reflector bucket that has a hole in the bottom. You can then go pick any H4 bulb that suits your needs.

most of the "reputable' ones are pretty much the same. it's all a matter of how much you want to pay. Like i said, i'm very happy with the quality. it hasn't let me down yet.
