If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Swingarm without a grease fitting???

I just removed and cleaned the swingarm on my 1978 GS750E and found that it does not have a grease fitting in it. (of course, the bearings are toast!) Anyone ever seen one without a grease fitting? The swingarm looks like it is the stock swingarm, as nothing on this bike looks to be changed from stock.

Do ya' think that maybe my bike was built on a Monday and that worker was hung over from the weekend???

Do any GS swingarms have grease fittings? I can't think of any.

I was looking at the parts diagram on Parts Outlaw and it shows a grease fitting in the 1978 GS750 swingarm. I am positive the bike I had in 1980 had one because I remember having to lay on the driveway to get to it! i also had one break off once and it was a PITA to replace on the bike.

Sure enough, the fishe does show a fitting. That model bike seems to be the rare exception. It wouldn't surprise me if Suzuki dropped it as a running change because most other GS biked don't have that feature.

Maybe that's it! Now I gotta decide if I want one or not. The old bearings just fell apart when I took the swingarm out. I knew they were bad since I had about 1/4" of side-to-side "play" in the rear tire. Made for an interesting ride!!!

Fit your own grease nipple, now you have the Swing arm out. Just drill a hole in the bottom and tap it for a 6mm nipple, that's what I did for my 79 gs1000. My 77 gs750 had one fitted already.
