Switching bar control switches between GS models

I have some bar switches from a 78 GS1000 that I want to use on my 80 GS1000. The connectors are a little different between 79 and 80 so I was thinking I could pull the wires/terminals out of the current plug (80) and put the wires from the 79 switch into the 80 plug. Only issue is, how do I do this without breaking anything?

You already have me confused because the first switch shown is not off of a '78-'79 gs 1000. The second switch that you want to convert to looks just like the one on my '78 and '79 GS 1000E. Replace the plug with a new one. I would highly recommend getting the proper crimping tool while you are at it, you will need it again sometime. You are correct. First picture is a switch from an 80. Second pictures is from a 78-79.

Im going to follow your advice and get a new male plug and the crimper tool but my original questions still remains:

If I wanted to remove the wires from the 79 plug and swap it to the 80, how can I get them out without breaking the wires or the plug itself?
