Tach Troubles

Recently just bought new tach and speedo from Dime City Cycles
Using the original holes for mounting the old cluster, seem to be running into issues with running the speedo and tach cables. Picture of how it is routed below

Does anyone know the acceptable bending radius on this cable or do i have to fab up something else....

I'm not sure if all models do, but some OEM cables had a 30-ish degree kink on the end ferrule to allow the cable to clear the headlight shell. It being built in to the ferrule was much better than a bent cable. I can't say I noticed any shorter life out of the cables because of that, as any that broke never did so up there.

Perfect, yeah it works so good enough for me
Plus the cable is cheap if it fails

My observation is that on stock GS guages the recptical on the instruments are at an angle to the back of the guages, so the cable stays straight with no bending required. (hard to describe).

On those guages you show in picture it is straight perpendicular to the back of the guage.

I'd just use my mongo strength to bend that flimsy little bracket. Its what I did on my old CB750. Had the same clocks on it. Helps that bend a bit.

yes I've a couple of these too...on the 400's tach cables
