    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Takes a while to warm up my GS400

I have a GS400T, which takes a long time to warm up. On some posting, I read that it should only take about 30 seconds before the engine is warmed up, but in my case I can let it run for about 5 minutes, and still if I rev it, it will begin to bog at about 3500 RPM. This symptom goes away after I drive it down the road, less than a quarter mile.
I'm new to riding, so I don't know if this is normal. It doesn't cause a big problem, as I simply ride slowly for the first quarter mile, then I can rev as much as I'd like. I just want to know if this is the sign of a larger problem.

warmed up in 30 seconds???/ LOL I don't think so.

it does sound like you are running a bit lean, adjusting the air screws will help this.
 
I used to have some problems with that, but I found a way to get mine to work properly in about 30 seconds. Not fully warmed up mine you, but so it doesn't die.

I start it with the choke on, let it idle for 20-25 seconds, then take it up to 3-4 grand RPM, then turn off the choke, and rev it a few times, and its gold :D
 
Hmmm, start up a cold engine and immediately rev it up before the oil pump has time to get oil to various parts. I dont think so.

i let it sit about 20-25 seconds before bringing it up to 3-4 grand. I suppose I should have been more specific.
