    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I know I've read a thread with this info before, but I just can't find it.:???:

What is the best way to clean out a gas tank? No rust, just dust and dirt.

How much dust and dirt? Assuming not too much, just dump some gas in there and swish it around real good. No reason to use anything else unless there is varnish and/or rust as well.
 
If your just trying to get dirt out use diesel instead of gas, much safer. You can always use the diesel for other things later. If it turns out to be rust you want to use phosporic acid. It will eat rust without harming sound metal. If you decide to acid wash I'll give you more on that later.
 
Another very safe method for cleaning rust, without the use of acids or other harsh chemicals, is electrolosis. Ive done it, and it works VERY well.
 
I used CLR to get surface rust out.. worked very well and is very cheap... it is a plus to not have to dilude it... least work a shot.. then just us hair dryer to dry it out the water after you rinse it
 
I suggest sloshing some alchohol around in there after the water too. And while you're at it, slosh some of the NON rubbing type around your mouth :)
 
Don't mind if I do *cracks a henry's* AHHH... .why am I breathing fire? :-D

Read Billy's comment, above. The KLR ingredient that deals with rust, as well as calcium deposits on sinks, is phosphoric acid.
