A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Back on 23/11/2014 I went riding with my dopey BMW riding mate Dennis. This was a serious mistake. I saw a mate coming towards us and grabbed the brakes to pull up for a chat, sadly,Dennis kept his eyes on Clive thinking he was about to do a U-turn.I was doing about 20kph when Dennis and his BMW hit me at 100kph.Both bikes were extensively damaged. The difference being that a GS1000 is always worth rebuilding, whereas who would bother with a BMW.

After 3 months lying on the couch, which I put to good use putting together 2 bike related scrap books, came the rebuild. The frame was destroyed by the BMW's left cylinder head but if the BMW had been 3 inches to the right it would have ripped my right leg off so I'm forever grateful to Suzuki for building them strong enough to spit a BMW out of the way.I had a spare frame but I needed a lot more bits.Dennis managed to destroy the bars,my heated grips, the speedo nacelle, the swing arm,the side covers, all 4 footpegs,3 blinkers, the pack rack, the back guard, the inner guard, the battery box, the rear disc, the rear caliper and mount. We never found 1 shocker and the back wheel was buckled and had spokes broken. The headlight didn't survive either. The whole exhaust was wrecked.
Forward on to last Sunday and my first ride on the rebuilt Pig.We did 400ks and The Dirty Old Pig Mark about 6 or 7 performed superbly.I will own The Pig until the day I die and if I have to I'd restore it again. The reason for the flames is simple.I've always wanted a bike with flames and now that I'm old I might not get another chance.

I remember reading about this. Glad to hear that you're healed up and back in the saddle.

WOW, thats quite a story glad you came out alive, you Aussies are tough!
Love the flames, the bike looks great.
Hows your friend?

Doesn't look like a 1000 tank, maybe it's the paint, but what's the story on that?

Glad to hear you're back in the saddle.

I've been torpedoed in a very similar situation to yours but I came out of it much cleaner, and I was almost the torpedo once, 25 years apart. The first scared me out of group riding, and the second reminded me to keep my head in the game all the time.

Great job on the rebuild. As for the flames... meh, if you're going to be out there, you may as well have some fun with it.

Stay safe.

My 750 was all of two months old when a guy i knew ran into the back of it with a '81 gpz550. Luckily all i got was a scraped up helmet and a sore lower back from where the top of his helmet hit me. I was riding two days later with a tinted red packing tape tailight..... Good to see you're back in the saddle.

Thanks Joe.Dennis lost his left little finger and is still limping a bit but he hasn't had any sympathy from anyone.Everyone just hangs it on him.Steve, maybe the original Stig was visiting me?Recycled64 it's a GSX1100 tank.
