I put clubman handlebars on my 1980 gs550l and need shorter throttle and clutch cables. Does anyone know of any from another model that will work?

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

My suggestion is to put your original cables on, measure how much shorter they need to be, then call Z1Enterprises. They should be able to set you up with the correct length of cable with the correct ends.

Yeah i wanted to find some too.
I installed some motocross bars on my bike, which are fairly straight, not like a 8 million Inch bend like my old ones were,lol.
And the RPM's were revvin all over the place when I turned my new bars.

here's what I did.
Just adjusted the locknuts on the Throttle cable.
There's 1 on the bottom and 1 on top....the Top one did the most help.
Then re-adjusted my Idle up some more on the carbs.
Also adjusted the clutch locknut too.....i was having problems with the clutch.
But dont have ANY problems now.....runs perfect!

But the throttle cable does stick out a little more than I would like.....
So i guess a shorter cable would be good for appearance or if it was digging into your leg or something.
Otherwise, just mess with the locknut if you want a quick fix.

It's a 1980, so he has CV carbs. Not sure what an M model is, but the E model has low bars also.
BTW, many prefer the OEM cables over aftermarket, so Nessism's suggestion may put you where you want to be.

M model cables are shorter than E model, in fact the L and E bars are not all that much different in terms of height.
