DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Throttle Valve Stuck

I bought a set of carbs on ebay because I needed the carb #2 body. As I was pulling the #2 carb apart I found that I could not get the throttle valve out. The lid is removed and the diaphragm is not stuck, but the valve won't come out. It moves up and down about a quarter of an inch and spins freely inside the carb body, but when I try to pull it out it feels like it's getting stuck on something. All the other throttle valves move freely and I have removed one of the others just to make sure it would come out. Does anybody have any advice on what to try to get the throttle valve out?

Are you trying to remove the throttle valve or the slide?

They are NOT the same.

The throttle valve is the butterfly on the shaft near the outlet of the carb.

The slide is below the diaphragm and is the moveable part of the variable venturi, not the "throttle valve".

.

Gas and corrosion have seized around the needle and the jet. Take off the bowl and soak it all with some penetrating oil a few times a day till its good and soaked in.

Then take an old tooth brush and grind the handle flat like a screw driver blade. Use blade to gently pry between the slide and the carb body.

I was trying to take out the slide. Sorry, I may have gotten the terms mixed up. I was able to get it out. I determined the needle was stuck to the jet and the jet was jammed on something inside the body. I was able to knock the jet out and the needle and slide came with it. They are still stuck together, which would normally be a problem but I wasn't planning on using those pieces anyway so I'm not going to worry about that.

it should not spin inside the carb. there should be a pin in the carb which locates in a slot in the slide, which prevents it from turning.
