A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I just picked up two bikes. One is a 82 650 the other is an 83 850. The 650 is the one I am thinking of bobbing. I am not going to keep the bike just clean it and get it running and sell. But not sure which will be more bang for the my buck. I feel the bobber will sell faster for my area.

What are your feelings on doing this to the bike.

Will add photo of the bike as soon as I stop being a noob and read how to....LOL

As an L rider...

Bob the L, if bob you must. Save the 650E, it will be worth more in good condition than the 850L and worth less than that after being cut on.

Yeah I say the same , I think there is nothing more amazing then bringing it back to original shape as intended to be !!!!

OK, this is why sites like this are treasures. I did not know that the "E" was of importance. The L is going to have cosmetic surgery. But now due to you guys the E is safe. I will just do a resto on it. Looking at it today she needs a new seat.spark plugs, oil change and new Bat. , and she should be up and running. Plus new paint on the tank.

How could you tell it was an E from my crapy pic?

Thanks for the info and heads up.

You can tell the 850 is an L in that pic by the tank. They's smaller and differently shaped than the E, ES, G, bikes. Some of the guys on here have incredible eyes for looking at a part and being able to call out an exact model number.

Well thanks to you guys. The 650 is saved from the saw.... The 850 on the other hand is going under the knife. I am going to cafe the bike, but after sitting on it with out the seat, I might bob it.

Just as an update. The 650 was saved and traded for a 1979 Triumph TR7 Convert....... Yeah me. And the 850 is going to be bobbed. Hope to have pics of the transformation as I should be starting it in a week or two.

I am curious about the 850 "L". :-k

I don't see an "L" in this picture:

I am noticing a plastic piece that runs alongside the bottom of the seat. The G had it, the L did not. :-\\\

Don't bob either one.
