Too many S pics..?

Very nice, the lines look great. Is this before buffing? Is the Suzuki a decal or airbrush? I know you did one AB before.

I also like that black paint inside of the fairing. Nice touch.

I did the same but used some rubber fender coating as my headlamp is set back from the opening so there is quiet a but of reflection when it was red. The black plus rough surface helped reduce any reflections.

These parts are all polished and ready to ship back to the owner. The stripes are painted, but tank, side covers, and tail lettering are decals this time around from graphixbyjim.com. He's really got them nailed and they're thin enough to totally bury under clear. I also paint the inside and back of everything. Under the tank, (blue and white) the front fender (blue), all the rest of the parts are satin black.

Well I dont know what condition the parts were in and how much body work was required, but you mind saying how much a job like that costs?

I'm sure it is worth every penny. :)

I did Bill's (Chef's) tank in my first pin stripping job and it is alot of work and the buffing is really a big part of it as well. My lines did not come out as well as yours for sure. :o

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

There is a big blemish in pic 5. Not sure if it will polish out. Very well done. Over here that would cost around $1500 If there was someone capable to do such a job.

These parts were in fairly good condition. No rust (yay!). One small dent in the tank, and both side covers were cracked at the mounting tabs and up into the body a bit. Both sides are repaired and painted so you can't tell they were even broken. The fender had a few dents that I metal straightened so it's nice and smooth on the under side, too. The fairing and tail were chipped up and stripes were missing in places. I still pretty much strip the paint off all the parts just to start fresh. The stripe layout is crazy time consuming to get it right. I work from a factory tank as a guide. Seems like a simple design, but to get it symmetrical is a bitch. Prime and block sand at least twice, color coats, several rounds of clear coats and block sanding to get it all flat, and then three days of color sanding and buffing. Whew. Most people I talk to think my prices are a little steep, until they understand the process, and then..see their parts. Fortunately, this client thought it was very fair and wondered why I don't charge more. My favorite type of bike owner to do business with. I'd be interested in talking to anyone about prices. Feel free to PM me any time. In the next week or so I'll have a site for my paintjobs, and I'd be glad to provide a link when it's up and running.

Too funny, Sharpy :D. Had to get my mug in the shot..pretty crisp reflection, eh..? You're very much in the ballpark for the cost here, too.

Well I'm glad you do this so well. I would not really want to attempt to reproduce an original design on something as complex like that. The design is fairly simple, but keeping them all smoothly flowing even and symetrical has gotta be a biatch.

Having an original tank is a probably a must as there is not much other way to insure you are duplicating the original design/lines. Evne then you probably went back and forth measuring about 1 thousand times .

I'm going to do my GSXR which has even more plastic, but I won't be stressing maintaining any original lines as long as it has the apperance of Suzuki :o

If I could paint like that, I would be smiling too. Excellent job, maybe better than factory from the way they look. Quality costs money but it is worth it. Thanks for sharing.

Looks to be an amazingly awesome paint job. WAY better than any stock S.:D You would have to back way off and add flaws in order to match the OE paint, and change to stripe tape instead of painting the stripes.

How did you decide on the while color match? The OE paint yellows really bad so it's hard to figure out what color the white is supposed to be. When I painted my S the white was color matched to the Reproduction Decal's white stripes, but it's quite bright so not sure it's correct.

The factory tank I used, and a couple of others that I've done, fortunately, have all been extremely close in color. St. Lawrence white is what it's called..kind of a Wimbledon white. Pure white is too bright. The blue is almost a dead ringer for the old Ford Grabber Blue that a lot of late 60's and early 70's cars were painted. Funny you should mention the factory paint. They were actually a little cobby (not just Suzuki's, either). Over spray on the inside and on the back of everything, nothing painted. Painting the backs of everything really gives it a finished look and it only takes a few hours to do.
