Track stories 2007

Three long days and several sets of very dirty clothes later I am done. This time it came apart like butter. She got the new crank and billet basket I had Mr Pearson make up for me over the winter along with the custom made APE wrist pins. I had FBG use the HD bearings on the new tranny. Did not come up with a better way to shim them, so I used another C-clip and some shim stock.

Spent most of today making all the adjustments. Fired right up so I ran it for about 15 minutes.

Every time I put an engine together they sound different. This one has a whirring noise, sort of like what a blown engine would sound like. Everything is in spec so I am guessing it is the MTC gears making the noise. I have never used their gears before.

Need to do a few more idle runs to get things worked in. Track is open on Friday.

Wow you got that together fast. No messing around. Good luck with it.

Well we're gonna have hot, hot, hot this weekend...
Second, two day event at Byron....\\:D/

Dumped the air over air and air soleniod ign kill...
Went with a elec over air and a Dyna shift counter...
Went and tested it last week...worked great with the 1-2-3 auto....made two runs and the clutch was slippin' after the second run...
Guess I took too much weight off the slider at the last race....
New clutch, more weight....ready to rock tomorrow...

BTW----I'm lovin' the 400 Pro Tree deal:-D

Rain, rain and more rain, looks like i'm better off taking the seadoo's to the track

R U in any of the flood areas I keep seeing on the news?

This was from the Battle of the Bikes. Carlos crapping his pants....

Took the old girl on Friday to try out her new parts. First pass I do the burnout, drive to the tree. Drop the hammer and there I sit, going no where. Back it out of the beam. Ah, I'm in neutral. LOL. Stiff springs. Make the pass. She starts going clang clang clang. Sounds like the new tranny or clutch. I tear down the clutch. Everything looks fine. Start it up, clang clang clang. Lost a bolt from the exhaust flange. Ended my night early. Wonder what else I forgot to tighten....

She still has a problem. It was breaking up the last time we went and was still doing it. Can't hear it in the tape, but I hear/feel it on the bike and see it on the logger. I need to figure this out before I run again.

Damm those 0.470 lights....

It wasn't to bad, all the streets drain into the creeks around here then head north to Fort Phantom lake. You just have to stay away from the curb's cause it gets deep near them.

Did head out last night with 60% chance of rain and the sky turned clear?? I got down to a 7.03 at 104.92. Was getting 1.75's 60fts still need alittle more practice or a longer swingarm \\:D/

A friend was on his ZX14 and he made 3 practice runs all at 6.25. I told him I wasn't even going to enter the race with him running like that. When it was all said and done he won the race. You could of see it coming, he should be in the 5's very soon.

Last month I had a ignition lead problem causing the same thing at the far end of the track. I replace the leads and the problem went away ???

Good to hear your ok where you are. Hear it's dry and hot. Corn and blue berries are going to be a problem if we don't see some rain soon.

I'm not sure what the problem is. I looked it over today and found nothing. It doesn't appear to be electrical. It started as soon as I up'ed the boost, so a lean pop makes sence but the heat line looks correct.

They wouldn't be half the fun if you didn't have to work on them now would they.

I get to the track right as the gates open. warm the bike up get the generator going. I'm ready. I notice the wheelie bars are loose so I started tightening them up. Thats when I see the crack on my strut right where the tab for the wheelie bars is mounted. Oh crap.

Grab the cell and give my dad a call. We're in business he's home. Load back up and drive 35 minutes to his house. Take the rear wheel and bars off and use his mig welder to make a quick repair. Clean up the weld and shoot a little paint on it.

Load the bike back up and head back to the track. I got in 1 time trial.

Ended up going 4 rounds for the win. I was killing on the tree. 531, 524, 519, 518, and 515 in the final. That kind of made up for the ****ty light I've been cutting over the past couple weeks. Here is the final. I dialed a 9.58 and he dialed a 9.54. He cut a 521 light to my 515. One of the street bike guys offered to handle the camera today. Nice to see some video of myself.

Nice videos! Makes me want to trade in the GS for a fueler....

I figure the GS costs about as much as a cheap car to own and drive, wonder what a T/F dragster costs to own and operate.

How did the weekend bike bash go Bob?

It was hot, hot, hot!!:-D
But a decent turnout....Their SuperStock class is taking off nicely...

And I was a bonehead most of the weekend...:?

Clutch was slippin' Saturday for the first two time runs, ran about .2 off what it should.
I did have two .023 lights on the .400 pro tree to make me #4 qualifier...
Replaced the clutch, added a little weight and dialed way too soft....
Had an .007 light first round, the other guy aborted at the 1/8, so I lifted and lost over 10mph and broke out by .01....Grrrrrr

Sunday....I was #4 qualifier again with a .021 and proceded to totally miss the tree in the first round....200 light, yes .200 Doh!
But the god of speed smiled on me and even though he was 3-4 bike lengths ahead...my opponent broke out by a touch...
Second round I faced the #1 qualifier who treed me good .021 to .07somethin'
It was a good race, I ran my number with a 0, but he still took the stripe by .02....

Add to that, the fact I'm takin' video all day for the series DVD and taking pictures of the final rounds and winners for the 2WheelSpeed web site...
I was one tired pup when we got home....
Glad I got this week off...

Thanks for askin'
Bob

Member Kris V ran my bike at Famoso. I took off the windshield and saddle bags and off he went. It was test and tune so it was for fun. The first pass he ran a 12.3 at 108 mph. He had trouble getting it out of third gear. The second run he did a 12 at 110 mph. He still had trouble shifting. He said the shifter drum was going bad. I beat the snot of this bike all the time and never had trouble shifting. Oh well, I guess I'm just used to it.
The runs made my day. He burned my new Dunlop GT501 tires and when he took off he popped wheelies in every gear. He had a good 2.5 foot wheelie going in third gear. I dropped to my knees laughing it was so funny. The bike pulls up with a sissy bar and highway pegs. People were laughing. It was a hoot! I need to get a full face helmet and a leather jacket so I can run it. It was the best day in a long time!

Hey Bob are you going to post some videos of the event?

Gosh....I'm so far behind.
I started editing the first weekend, but only got the first couple of minutes done.
It takes me an hour to edit one minute of video....
Plus I'm trying a new mic and the sound needs work...

Now I have two weekends on tape with the third coming up on the 21st.

I'm hoping to get at least the first weekend done this week....

Your not the only one askin':-D

Bob
