    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Turn signal problem / right side

I found a problem with my right turn signal after putting my bike back together after rebuilding a "barn" bike that was laid down. I pulled the front right turn signal a long time ago and only recently replaced it. Disclaimer: no shop manual and I didn't mark the wires. Doh!

Now, I can't get the front right to light / blink. The right rear lights up but does not blink.

I traced the left front and found the solid black and black w/ white stripe.

But where do the right side wires go? I don't see an extra similar black / stripe pair for the right. Any ideas?

Turn signal problem / right side

Sorry about that. 1983 GS 850G. Finally running.

I am looking at the wiring diagram in the owner's manual on line (thanks Cliff), but can't make out the letters when blown up.

one wire goes into the stud and powers the light. The other wire is a ground that has a loop connector that goes around the stud and is grounded there. I had the same problem and my loop was not grounding well. In my case, the front would come on and not blink. The rear would not come on at all. Once it was grounded they both came on and would blink. It was occcuring on the right directionals. hope this helps.
 
I can't read it either. I'll look at my diag when I get home around 3:00pm.
 
Thanks. I think it might be Light green.

Regardless, I need to go back and check the ground on the rear as well. Might have missed something when I relocated the "less broken" light to the front.
 
Thanks again. Might also try some new bulbs just in case I am over thinking this.....

put a test light or a vom on the lt green and connect the other lead to a good ground. it should show voltage. then check the resistance across the two leads of the turn signal.
those two measurements should tell you all you need to know.
