    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I'm confused, I have recently updated the wiring on my 1150.
I have removed alot of stuff (monitoring unit, turn signal monitoring unit)
it doesn't really need and never worked properly in the first place.
My question is about the turn signal relay, I know it has 3 wires connected to it, one from a power source, one going to the turn signal switch, and one going to an earth. I had it wired up like this and it didn't work, so I thought maybe the ground was at fault so I disconnected it and now it works fine. Why is this? All other motorcycle wiring diagrams have relays that use 3 wires but mine doesn't seem to want to.

It appears power + runs through it and the circuit is completed with load/turn signal which has its own ground.
Just my guess. If this is correct then a ground at the relay will short the circuit.

Hi JD,

One lead is + direct from the fuse, lead two is the lead, which goes to the turn signals (bulbs) and is grounded through the bulb.

The third lead is connected to the turn signal control unit, the unit which automatically turns off the turn signal after a couple of seconds.

My turn signal control unit broke last year and I just disconnected the whole unit.

Then the turn signal control unit is disconnected, the turn signals work as normal turn signals without automatic turn off.

So, if you want to take the turn signal control unit away, you should not connect the third lead on the turn signal relay at all.
 
Hi again JD,

As you removed your check panel monitor unit, did you have to make a lot of mods to the electric?

What functions are no longer working after the removal?
 
It was quite easy to remove it, just a matter of connecting some of the wires that go into it with the correct one that comes out.
On my system I removed the Headlamp warning light, the tail lamp warning light, the battery warning light, the sidestand warning light and the turn signal self cancelling unit.
I've tested it and it all works fine.
If you want it I could give you the info of which wire connects to which and save you a bit of time, I spent about 2 hours doing it.
