Since changing my headlamp glass I have no turn signals flashing.

The signal will come on but not flash. This is the same for both sides front and back.

Have I connected the wires wrong or has the flasher unit blown.

All fuses are ok and the battery is fully charged.

Any advice appreciated please.

You must have disturbed something in headlight bucket- do you have a wiring diagram from Basscliff's site? Are both front and rear signals coming on, but not flashing? Not flashing indicates not enough current draw, or bad flasher.

Chris,

Often when someone says the t/signals not flashing, it is that one bulb is burnt out and then there is less current draw so the flasher doesnt flash (lights up but not flash). BUt that would just be on that side of the burntout bulb, other side woulb be okay.
But you say that both sides dont flash and both front and back, so must be that you have looked it all over fairly well, and would have noticed if a bulb was burnt out.

Good that you state that battery is charged (cuz low voltage can cause not to flash due to too low of current flow.)

You havent changed out the bulbs with lower wattage have you?

Also: Please state what year/model (better yet, add in your signiature line so appears on each posting), and where in general are you located? (add location in profile, User CP).
REsaon I ask what year/model is that there is some difference in the flasher circuit in some earlier models (78-79).

Are t/signals all stock? Or have added others, maybe fairing?

I am suspecting problem with the flasher unit itself.
But tell us more.

My 1983 GS850 has been triked.

The bike was MOT'd before the conversion so everything worked.

The tail lights were changed and the GS rear indicators removed.

I have a 4 way flasher relay fitted which works fine,

All the other lights, brake lights, horn, full and dipped beam work.

I tried to fit LED indicators to the front but they would not flash so took them off and replaced them with the GS originals.

Since then no flashers.

Thanks for your reply.

Something I dont understand: you say it doesnt flash front and rear, and you say the rear indicators have been removed.

You will need the current draw of two original bulbs (per side) to get the stock flasher to flash. (this is related to what you found with the LED signals: the stock flasher requres a certain minimum amount of current flow to flash, it has a heater inside that heats up with the current flowing thru it).

When you turn on the t/signal the light comes on but doesnt flash, correct? It isnt on all the time is it (without t/signal swtich on)?
WHen you reinstalled the stock front signals, did you get the right side on the green circuit and the left on the black circuit....?

.

The original GS indicators were removed and a custom pair fitted to the rear. Front and rear lamps come on when the turn swich is operated, left or right.
I also have a seperate hazard system that operates all four turn signals at once. This works fine.

I will check the wiring as you sugest in the morning.
I will try to match the new rear bulbs to the original ones.

Many thanks for your reply.

Regards,

Chris

Chris

So the wiring must be correct.

Either the present bulbs do not draw enough current to operate the stock flasher, or the flasher is defective.

New electronic flasher unit now installed, old one defective.

Now all working with old indicators, so far so good.

New LED indicators re fitted with balance resistors all still working,
so far so good....until....... I turn on the headlamp.

Indicators stop working and led marker lights at rear flash!!!

I think I will try a dual load relay next, before I go mad!

Unless of course anyone has any sugestions?
PLEASE.

Thanks,
Chris
