    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Anyone using them on a GS? If so, what are you using?

Last night I was trying out Lee Parks' recommendation to make all the steering effort using the inside hand. I liked the results, but I found myself wanting to do some clutch work in left hand sweepers. It would be nice if I could keep two fingers on the bars so I can pull as well as push.
 
Got a hack saw?

I hacked mine down. Too much track time to be able to revert to 4 fingering. I can't say I've ever seen GS anything in the drop downs for shorty levers like ASV or Pazzo.
 
Well, I'm hoping somebody can point me to some (hopefully adjustable) before I unleash the power tools. Then again, the prices are absurd. I need to get a cheap CNC mill, whip something up, slap some Italian name and "billet" on there and make myself a killing.

Depends how deep into the rabbit hole you want to venture.

I bought 600rr front m/c and clutch perch for the CB so that I can run Pazzo knockoffs (The CBR gets the real ones lol)

I'm willing to bet gsxr m/c and perch will mount up and function, with the ability to fit knockoff eBay levers.
 
I used them on my dirt bikes. Perhaps there are some that will fit your perch. I would really hesitate to shorten the levers in case you needed to apply more pressure at some point.

For sure I can go to two fingers on the clutch. The brake I'm not so sure about. I need to go do some quick stops to see if there's any appreciable difference.
 
What's wrong with using two fingers on the long levers? That's why they are curved as they are.
Best of both worlds, you can use two, or three, or four fingers as your mood and needs fluctuate.

They're not curved enough. I discovered in my experimenting last night that I can't fully disengage the clutch with two fingers under the lever. In fact, I suspect the real reason the lever is curved is to increase the range of motion before the lever is tight against the bar, while still being close enough to the bar when out for most people reach. That is, I think most people can't get all 4 fingers onto the lever until it has already been pulled part way in.

The situation for the brake is similar. I can't get full travel with two fingers still on the bar. I need to check to see if I can get the same effective braking with only two fingers squeezing. I do know that with stainless brake lines, I can't pull the lever all the way to the bar with any number of fingers.
 
I had full size levers on the CBR when I got it. I come from a mountain biking background, so I was used to 2 fingers on the levers. My first month of riding, the tops of my pinky and ring fingers were purple from clamping the levers down on them, right up until I hacked some off the ends of the levers. Problem solved-ish.

The clutch can be adjusted to work well, to release completely without smashing fingers.

With good brakes and lines, the lever should never be able to come in far enough to smash the other fingers. Whether or not you can do a hard stop with two depends on the effectiveness of the brakes, the weight of the bike, and the strength of your fingers. I haven't used four fingers on a GS brake in years, except on a bike with poor brakes.
 
The ball is on the end of the lever for a purpose. Hacking it off is tantamount to a stabbing action waiting to happen.

The way they angle out allows a 2 finger clutch but still gives you the ability to use all 4 if required. Not sure if any would fit a GS perch, though. Sounds like a shopping trip is required (even if it is virtual shoppng). ;)

I used a master and clutch perch off a SV and was able to use Pazzo's, plus the master with a set of stainless lines was a huge braking improvement, actual 2 finger braking

Heh. Those look like the levers on my mountain bike.

I was thinking that if I did have to hack them, I'd heat them with a torch and approximate a ball on the end.

Do you have really thin fingers, maybe? I have a new-ish OEM cable that isn't stretchy, and it's adjusted for minimum slack (I hate slack in my controls). The brake lever stops nice and firm, but not with enough room for fingers behind it. At the MSF BRC, they instructed everybody to use 4 fingers because of the finger pinching issue. The only way to get more room would be to heat the levers and bend them out further.
