A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Mr. ddz,

That looks like the standard issue (with out the connectors) Suzuki part that all of us end up replacing with the upgraded Honda part from Mr. duaneage (for $40 shipped). Send him a PM and he'll fix you up.

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with the GSR member duaneage other than being a satisfied customer.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

You have no way to connect your voltage regulator to this rectifier unit. Without a voltage regulator you'll boil all the juice out of your battery along with blowing all of your lamps out from the excess voltage generated.

If you look at the application chart, it says it fits a 1980 1000G. But, like others have mentioned, why not spend $8 less and have one shipped that will wire right in? This one from Dennis Kirk is a universal application that will most likely have to have wires extended, so save yourself some trouble, contact duaneage and get a better unit for less money. \\:D/

It says rectifier but I suspect it's a R/R. Better call first to confirm.

The specs dont list any amp capacity or anything.
The "Fitment" does list 80 GS1000G.

Single unit r/r?

Single unit r/r?

Mr. ddz,

Does your bike have a separate regulator and rectifier? Or are they both sealed in a single unit? My 1980 GS850G uses the single r/r unit. Check your manual to be sure.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

All but the very early GS bikes use a combined R/R. By 1979 I think they all had been converted.

Mr. ddz,

Options for new stuff; there's Electrosport and Rick's. I got my stator from RMStator's ebay store. They also have a website here.

Thank you for your indulgence,

I went to the Ricks web site and that is not what they call for, and I also found this disclaimer...

IMPORTANT: Internet Sales Through Unauthorized Companies
Rick?s Motorsport Electrics does not authorize any internet sales of our products. We do not guarantee, warranty, or provide technical assistance on any pieces purchased through the internet or any unauthorized resale outfit. We would be happy to help anyone who orders through us directly or through an authorized distributor/dealer.

Mr. focus frenzy,

I take that to mean that if you purchase a Rick's part from anyone other than Rick's Motorsport or an authorized reseller, Rick's will not support it at all. I can't say that I blame them.

Am I missing something?

Thank you for your indulgence,
