If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

anyone have any experience/input on ufo's(ultimate fuel optimizers)?
carb inserts for round slide carbs.put out by starting line products.
theyre supposed to eliminate turbulence in the carb by redirecting potential turbulent air (caused by air hitting the forward edge of the slide)into the carb more smoothly.thus increasing power and economy.

Dang! I thought I was gonna get to post some of my UFO pics!! :(

Get one of those tornado air cleaner thingies for your car too. Increases your mileage and horsepower by a hunert millyun billyun percent.

No, no, no. You need the $29.99 turbo fan. It really works, or they could not say so. :)
But seriously, no. While it is true that some turbulence is created during the intake cycle of the engine, one would have to custom design such a device for each specific engine in order to find a substantive horsepower increase. Your dollars would be better spent in other areas. Just my $$ worth.

You'll need four of these

UFOs are a good upgrade in round slide mikunis. They simplely smooth out the bottom of the throttle slide- eliminating the irregular shape of the bottom of the slide.
You will gain throttle response and midrange power, probly some topend too. The low and midrange fuel circuits will need to be rejetted (leaned out).
I have used them on my race snowmobiles. UFOs will make round slide (VM) mikunis perform almost as well as most flatslides.
These are worth the money if they are setup properly.

well i'll be...

well i'll be...

damned!seems the one person with actual experience with the aforementioned product actually had something positive and insightful to say!
kinda makes those smartaleck comments seem shortsighted...eh boys?

by the way...thanks deesel for the info.as for some of the others...i know you were
in your own way tryin to help(cough).maybe a little research next time.im doin mine.

You asked for experience/input. From me you got input. It was worth evey bit you paid for it.

gosh...

gosh...

i thought that was what this site was for.seems less and less so as i go along.
and the inquiry was for experience related input.ill try to be more succinct in the future to avoid any confusion.
but you know what they say.opinions...
experience however usually proves more valuable.
dont worry...i havent given up hope on ya'll yet.

a little fun shouldnt(and didnt)hurt anyone.i stand humbly before thee good
GSers at the mercy of thy keyboards.

snake oil... gotta believe me i'm from michigan.
try it and find out for yourself then let us unbelievers know your results, but be prepared to document your results fuel mileage, h.p. gains, drivability, cold starting ect. at least we have and open mind (must be open mine has a hole it it) to all things.

still gettin some...

still gettin some...

more info dale.seem to be hearing mixed results.a big concern is how theyll work in a four stroke.everything ive heard is from two stroke snowmobiles.
not sure how much difference it makes.my next question will be...29mm flat slides...from what machine should they come to fit a 78 gs1000?is the spread
fairly consistant throughout the suzuki gs/gsx/gsxr lineup?
here we go again?...just kiddin

My input: I've been running VM carbs on my 1100 since 1985. Been in contact with many people who run simular setups. I've NEVER heard of anyone using "anti-turbulance" items that saw any gains in performance. All articles that I've read say that they either did not increase performance or milage or cause decreased performance. Deesel appears to have had some experiance with them so I can't dispute his input, but he is the first person I've ever heard of who has seen an improvement.

I've never heard them called "ultimate fuel optimizers" so I may be talking about something entirely different.

I suggest you do lots of home work. Document your findings.

thanks hap...

thanks hap...

ima tryin.im not entirely sure just how brave im feelin right now.
ive a feelin ill need to log some serious info to answer all the questions thatll be headed my way.

The smallest I see them listed for is for 32-34mm carbs. They are $59.95 for 2 carbs, so some where around $120 plus tuning parts if you can find them for 29mm carbs.
I have only used them on 2 stroke engines, but any time you can improve the "vacuum signal" to your fuel metering circuits within your carbs- you should be able to tune more accurately and improve throttle response.
I have proven results on the dyno- on snowmobile engines with UFOs.
They especially help when tuning engines with larger than average carbs.
It helps to be proficient at carburator tuning to realize the gains available from UFOs.
OK, now I feel like a sales representative for the UFO company.
Good luck, long gone, sorting through all the "expertise" being offered.

these are the things in question

i think this is the manufactures website.
http://www.thunderproducts.com/u_f_o.htm

looks like they kinda follow the same princapals that the 29 and 33 smoothbore carbs do. seems to just turn the throat of the carbs into velocity stack like thing, and would only be most effective at WOT other wise the slid would still be causing turbulance.

my question is, this is such a simple and cheap peice to install and manufacture, y has not any of the major carb manufactures had this as oem peice? if you can find one example of this in race oem race carbs or any other oem carb then i would say this is a good idea.

i am neither for or against these.

Hmmmm..that is not what I was thinking it was...I thought it was something you put upstream of the slide with vanes to "smooth out" turbulance.
