How much is f6349 in real money? The kid has made off with the Bandit and I'm looking for a replacement.
I've imported a couple of bikes over the years from europe. Brought them in via Canada. (Call it grey market, 'cause they are legal in Canada)That was how I got the German spec 500 Gamma, and the German ELR Kawasaki with metric gauges that are are in the collection The Gamma is titled as a gt550, as the locals at DMV guessed at what to call it and I didn't correct them. Never took it on the street, mind you but have done a couple of track days with it

Is about $12,395 . I found a Import fee of $875. plus tax. That depends on which port of entry, plus another Tarrif tax of 2% for being over 700cc's. But it can be done! To bad that new Concours 14 is calling my name. LOL

Wow...nice pipe on that bike! Sadly, the GSX1400 is'nt being sold here in Canada either...probably because it would compete head-on with the Bandit (that continue to enjoy good sales here I believe). I think there are already a couple 1400's in the US, imported by servicemen returning from overseas...recall seeing some pics on the net.
Tony.

If you rode one you may be a little disappointed, I did & was:-) quite smooth in a washing machine kind of way, overweight and trick looking suspension built down to a price. My friend has had his rear shocks replaced 3 times because the hydraulic preload adjusters failed. I even had a go after it was fitted with a power commander and 4 into one, power delivery was better although still not overly impressive and the extra power only highlighted the less than perfect handling. He bought it new, spent a packet and sold it after 12 months (at a loss)as he just didn't get a kick out of it. In my humble opinion an XJR1300 is a far nicer bike to ride and feels more like an improved classic jap.

Overweight and undersuspended? Sounds like a GS to me. That thing's frickin sweet lookin, and probably fast as hell.

So basically if you reset the rev limiter to 10,000rpm and put a pipe on it, you pick up 50 horses. That's gotta be the most severely detuned Japanese four banger I've seen in ten years.

NO!!! you need to fit a K&N filter, Power Commander, Full Exhaust system, Hayabusa Cams, Port the head etc to get an additional 35hp brings it to very near a GSX1100ef(GS1150 for the 'Mericans).

We get them here in NZ and they are very popular. I ride with a couple of blokes who have them and one of them Paul left a review here. http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=37219
He is a fairly assertive rider and I iften see him grounding down his footpegs on the road. The thing certainly has some torque and is damn quick on exiting a corner.
Enjoy B

Don't get me wrong, its not a bad bike but it had the potential to be a great one. Suzuki has the heritage to have built a world class retro classic style sports bike and sold them by the truck load.
As I said earlier it has the feel of something that was built to a price not to a specification but then again the world is ruled by bean counting accountants these days.
There is a huge market for this type of product just waiting to be tapped into, you need only look at the new retro Ducati range. They were only ever intended to be a small limited production run but the demand from buyers made them do a rethink and even with manufacturing at full swing they could not keep up with the incoming orders.
I suppose the bottom line is would I own one? and the answer is yes (at the right price) but if I had the cash burning a hole in my pocket it would not be at the top of my list.

Triumph's Speed triple is an awesome piece of work. It's styling is a little different but it rides real nice..

I was in the market for a new bike earlier on this year and the K6 Hayabusa and the K6 GSX1400 were within a grand of each other. Needless to say my garage now has three Suzukis in it. My new Busa, is derived from a lineage that I love and still ride, the GS (X) series.

Hmmm, I am in Japan and I own a 2001 GSX1400. Mine has a full titanium exhaust, BMC filter and PCIII USB. While not a GSXR1000 or Busa, I am making in the neighborhood of 125 HP but most importantly 100ftlb of torque! How can that not be fun on a naked inline four? I have no problem whatsover "handling" an XJR or ZRX in the straightline unless they have cam and piston work done. While it is true that certain year GSX's had bad rear suspension (which could have been replaced under warranty) it is one of the few nakeds that have fully adjustable suspension and when setup right, handle very well. The XJR motor is based on the oldschool FJ which is a very solid and capable motor but the riding position and suspension leave alot to be desired. Now, I do like the ZRX alot and if I didn't have my GSX, I would probably own one. The GSX1400 is restricted alot by the computer and the camshaft lobe size. A set of Yoshimura ST1 cams can bring a stock GSX up to 140-145HP with a good exhaust. When my bike was stock, it weighed around 435 lbs but after dropping the original exhasut and center stand it's around 400 now.
