A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Ok, so about a year ago, I re-built my 550 carbs to be put on the 650 using a k&l carb rebuild kit. They have been working great, but now it is time to reclaim the 550 carbs for the 550 (see my thread in appearance mods).

Anyway, I pulled out my marked baggies of the 550 carb bits and as I was looking at them I noticed this little piece:

I see no mention of it in the carb rebuild series, and I seriously forget if it came out of my 550 carbs, or was just a piece that came in the kits that I didn't use. Anyone can tell me if this is actually a part that belongs in there somewhere, and if so, where.

Looks like the infamous cap for the idle air screws that befuddles everyone and has to be drilled out.:)

Does that hole go all the way through? :-k

Another possibility is the plug that goes between the float bowl edge and the bottom of the throat, but that one does not have a hole through it. This plug does not usually come out, and there is usually a square-section o-ring between it and the float bowl gasket that holds it in place.

Yes, the hole does go the whole way through it.

I just put the carbs back together for the 650 and I don't know where that little piece would go.

The best place to put them would be in your aluminum recycling bin. :D

Once they have been removed to properly set the mixture screws, they are really of no further value.

Ok, just wanted to make sure it wasn't some slight change that the 550's carbs had that the 650+ carbs didn't.

Here's a pic of the caps that came with the new idle air screws I got a few weeks ago, along with my cell phone for a little scale. As stated there's really no use for them.:)
